Have we managed to hear anything new on whether these will happen? Group buy perhaps?

I am sure everyone is shut down this week. No reply yet.

Ventruck 12-30-2016 08:48 PM

Dumb question, does Valenti literally sell the taillights as a whole, or is there required send-in prior to getting the set?

If it's the former, and install doesn't require any serious splicing of sorts, I'd be interested. Definitely not expecting it to be as low as $300, though.

I think the idea is supposed to be plug and play.

Such a tease :icon17:

NorthStyle 12-31-2016 01:17 AM

Like Ventruck said, those expecting these to be around $300 are probably going to be disappointed. If you look at the WRX, GT-R and RX7 lights, they range from $650-1500 depending on size and complexity.

cooltoy 12-31-2016 01:33 AM

You are most likely correct. The fr86 lights are fairly simple and small.

cooltoy 01-05-2017 06:01 PM

One reply. I will contact Depo. I hope it's not Home Depot.

Quote:

Hey Greg,

Unfortunately I am unable to provide further assistance with this matter. I would look into contacting Depo as they produce a number of aftermarket lights.

Another reply.

Bump

cooltoy 01-20-2017 05:50 PM

Do you have something new to report?

Jazza2894 01-22-2017 03:47 AM

Unfortunately not. I just don't want this thread to go down into the archives. Aftermarket tail lights are a must

shirokenkami 02-01-2017 09:04 AM

I will not let this thread die until we know something definitively.

Man with a cause. Fight the power!

Cyber370 02-01-2017 10:53 AM

I need to change my damaged tail lights and am holding off buying replacements until I'm sure that there aren't any nicer aftermarket ones in the works. I can't believe all that is available are the JDM clear ones.

it's more like it can be $600 for the pair if someone were to do this.

the stock lights are ~$350 each and the housing is ~$270 each.

I can only see someone buying the housings and modifying those.

tailights

It'd be cool if any of the concepts made come out by someone though.

True but I came here because of the CSC issue. What? Thats right.... this is a 2 to 3k fix. That is peanuts compared to the problems you will find in other sports cars. For example Z06 valve train issues cause engine to crap out..15k, S65 M3 Connecting rod bearing clearance issues cause engine to crap out...25k, Hellcat superchargers dropping like flies ...12 to 15k. Mustangs cylinder #8 engine boom.
WRX STI ringland failure, GTR transmission problems. So 2 to 3k is great...:ugh2:
The only car I found with less problems is a newer than 2013 FRS or BRZ...but I test drove one of these and it feels really cheap and crappy....with 200 hp and the worst interior and seats I have ever sat in along with a underwhelming feeling of cheap for its exterior. Plus its slower than a camry or accord? Nah...that is a newbs car not a real performance car.

OT but it's even cheaper than 2-3k... Zspeed HD CSC is only $325 and labor about $400. Add a Z1 clutch/flywheel while you're in there and you end up with a pretty nice upgrade for right around $1500.

Is the flywheel worth the extra chatter?

Don't want to go too OT, but ZSpeed's is pretty easy to get along with. Probably heard from the outside, but then if you gun it, it's pretty much nonexistent. Inside, I hear the engine and tires much more.

Anyway, lights.

mischman 02-27-2017 07:12 PM

up

shirokenkami 03-10-2017 01:09 PM

Anyone have any new information for tail lights yet?

cooltoy 03-10-2017 01:21 PM

I have not gotten any responses back, not even from the guy that was supposedly going to Japan to meet with them.

I have e-mailed anybody that makes lights and nothing. Not even a sorry we will not be making them.

I will try to yank their chain again. But it does not look good.

Aznsensazn 05-31-2017 07:28 PM

I mean those look nice, but they still look very similar to the stock ones.

I was kinda hoping for some of the other stuff on this thread

cooltoy 05-31-2017 07:37 PM

Hope springs eternal.

you can blame Photobucket for that.

The screwed everyone over after they changed their terms a few months back.

People have to use a new file hosting site, and if they have hundreds if not thousands of posts, it's probably not worth it, unless it's an active thread.

I thought I was the only one with the issue and every thread I go into has photobucket and it's such an inconvenience

cooltoy 09-23-2017 08:14 AM

Here is a solution.

Off topic and free bump, but I figured out how to get broken photobucket images to properly display on the site. You'll need to use 'Photobucket embed fix' for chrome or firefox. If you don't use either of those browsers... I'm sorry for your loss.

But the pictures were deleted by the poster, so there is noting to see anyway.

Digging up this thread because I found a pretty unique customerizer on Instagram:

P.LUXE NYC
Website: https://www.pluxenyc.com/shop

I particularly like their FD3S lights

No Z34's so far, but they expressed interest in doing some. I just can't front it right now since I bought wheels for another car

If anyone wants to be the guinea pig, i'm sure it would look sick
