Track Numbers

Hey guys,

Just bought some magnetic track numbers...come to find out they don't stick to my car because my doors are aluminum. I see some people say magnetic numbers work on their Z. Maybe the 2012 went to aluminum doors?

(yes i made the numbers stick to other metal sources in my garage so the magnets do work lol...)

Thoughts on vinyl numbers? I don't like the idea of having to install then uninstall them. Are there easy to stick and peel off ones that don't leave any residue or ANYTHING behind.

I'm still ok with using painters tape since but i'm tracking more and more and its beginning to look tacky lol

I use reusable vinyl numbers on mine. Stick great and peel off without leaving any residue.

I get mine from Welcome to SPS and Solotime!

I use static cling vinyl racing numbers. Never had a problem with them but they need a clean surface to be secure.

Is static cling vinyl the same as reusable vinyl similar to gomer_110 response?

Where do you recommend finding quality ones?

I guess you can't put the numbers on the front or rear fenders? Because they are magnetic.

Two different things. The website I listed actually sells the static cling numbers also. I've heard static cling is a little harder to keep on because of the cleanliness requirement that Nismo#91 mentioned.

The 370Z has had aluminum doors and hood from the get go. I use sets of magnetic and reusable vinyl numbers. Depends on how I feel, I guess. Or how I want the car to look in pictures at the track. My vinyl ones have lasted me quite a long time, but that is because I only put them on in a clean environment. The magnetic will last forever. I purchased my numbers from izoomgraphics.com. The guy is real nice, has even expedited a set to me for an upcoming track session. Very good quality. I suggest getting ones with a contrasting color border. It makes them two layers thick and more durable.
As far as residue from vinyl, nothing left on the car. Plus, after a track event, I'm more concerned getting all the black rubber marks off my bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors, roof, windshield, etc, than worried about adhesive residue. Goo Gone!
Hope this helps.
