Trying to rig up cruise control w/ aftermarket wheel
 

Hey I have been using an aftermarket wheel for a while now, and I have just gotten used to not having cruise control, but any time I drive my gf's car I realize I miss it.
Anyways, I'm thinking about cutting up the steering wheel controls, and running them back through the dash and down the middle console and utilizing 1-2 empty blanks for the button and toggle switch. I'm not the best at wiring, or anything like that, but if I were to cut the wires and add a few feet of wiring, to give it the reach do you think the cruise control would still work like it had before?
