NRG E-brake handle and wheel installed

Maybe this will be of interest to someone, I've kinda just been a spectator here, got a lot of great info on parts to buy/ how to install, and I have always wanted to change the ugly e-brake handle. I'd seen on here where someone modified a similar handle, but I didn't want to have to modify mine since I went with neo chrome. I went ahead and ordered a new e-brake assembly as well in case i ****** it up :D but luckily it turned out pretty well i think, just have to get a new boot that will cover up the screws. Also went ahead and drilled out my nrg short hub as well, and will include pictures, just used about a 1 inch bit and it fit perfectly over the clockspring.

All I did was cut off a secotion of the bottom part of the ebrake frame, and filed down the top and sides.

Then once it was cut down so that the whole handle would fit, I filed down a small section of the bottom part of the frame, and also filed down the top a bit as well to give me extra room on the bottom so it would be a perfect fit for the end section of the handle, so you can use the provided set screws.

And here is the short hub, I just drilled into the back end of where the screw goes into and then used a dremel to clean it up. Looks ugly, but you cant tell it from the outside.

Still got a bit of work to do, getting a friend that does upholstery to make me a leather cover for the wheel, and still have to dye the white stitching red in some places, also having my shift knob neo chromed next week.

Looks sharp! However, depending on where you live, that E-brake is going to get HOT.

raffenblackma 08-04-2015 03:47 PM

Hah, yeah it gets really hot here, tbh tho I dont really use the e-brake often, and not until the car has already cooled off.

that ebrake would not be ok with us 6mt guys. Burn my damn hand off trying to park.

You need a neo chrome shift knob to match.

raffenblackma 08-04-2015 11:28 PM

Yup, I shipped it off to get it neochromed, sadly the options for a neochrome knob for autos is pretty moot, found a guy that had machined a few that work similar to how the B2 auto designs one worked, ceppt has little to no play and much heavier.

It's this thread that gave me the idea when I did a search. Would you prefer I start a new thread on the same subject? Plus, if anyone else is interested in doing it, the write up is already there.

Damned if you do. Damned if you don't.
