55 Watt HID Upgrade

Wasn't able to find anyone that did the upgrade to the 55 watt kit. Planning on doing it next week. Parts are on their way from DDMTunning. Anyone have have tips? Should I attempt to post a DYI?

the DDM 55watt ballast will probably put out less light than your stock matsushita ballasts. if not, you'll likely melt the stock wiring harness as it was designed for 35 watts. a single matsushita ballast is worth more than the entire DDM kit. why bother? should've spent your money on some quality D2S from theretrofitsource.com instead

I've used the ddm tunning kits on multiple cases of mines. They are way brighter on my other cars I figured why not. I'll try post a before and after pic to show the difference

i've purchased probably a dozen DDM tuning kits and installed onto friends cars as well. they are **** kits, that are definitely brighter than halogen bulbs, but compare them to a quality kit and they are **** for brightness and longevity. hell, their bulbs aren't even properly mounted in the bulb holder and not pointed straight. color is always slightly off due to the crap salts they use. have fun melting your $1000+ headlights and wiring harnesses with a cheap 55w kit.

I have to agree, I've used ddm multiple times and yes they are brighter than your halogen set ups, but when you compare them to the quality of the ballasts that we have now they are crap. Don't ruin your stock harness because it's an aftermarket set up, trust me you will be disappointed and will spend a lot more money in the long run when you burn up that harness.

Ha these guys mean well. They weren't too nice to me at first but there is alot of truth to what they say. If you want a better look, I recommend going with jw motoring, the d2 6000k bulb replacement is from what I understand the best replacement bulb for our set up. Its just as bright and gives it a nice ice blue shade. Check out this video. https://youtu.be/AJ8A7nmyvLo

thanks for the link...

side question. I saw your signature and its got me curious. Did the K&N drop ins with the hps hoses help at all with the acceleration lag?

Yes, you are correct, while those are not cheap, they are the best bulbs out there.

Yes they did, I suggest them if your not looking to spend alot on your intake. You can feel really good gains on mid to high rpm's. I actually just changed out my intake, I'm doing a custom set up. So I have an extra pair of k&n drop ins if you need them. Only used for like 2 months
