Interior Light color change

Can anyone point me to a build that has done this? Searching for "interior lights" of course finds 100 posts...

My biggest annoyance with this car appearance wise is definitely that the interior orange lights everywhere are ugly. I was to make them all red or blue. Can anyone help?

Thanks

yah, check the DIY section. i swapped the maplight lens to GTR's clear lens and running white LED's in there. it's very nice.

Got red interior lights for my red Z. Nice touch. Easy and not expensive. Also, lighted scuff plates on door entries are nice.

Thinking about doing this... But that thread is long and it looks like there are a LOT of things to replace. Oh well, one at a time.

I'm just concerned about putting up a red flag for someone buying the car, having them think I've messed with the electrics.

having the white LED's on any part of the car (i.e. license plate light, interior, etc.) gives the car an expensive look. but when people start putting blue/red/green/etc. LEDs on any part of the car, IMO it screams "RICER" and reminds me of the late 90's when underbody neon lights was the trend.

yes, this is with any mod for that matter.

and if you're that concerned about it, swap it back to stock prior to selling.

I think he's talking about all the interior lights such as dash and gauges. One person has done it on the forums and he has a detailed DIY and it is LONG AS F***. That's one of those conversions where you do it in stages over a month on the weekends or something. And when you do something like that the motivation to reverse it simply isn't there.

Ah, I stand corrected. I thought it was weird when the OP said it would take a month to replace what I thought would be the dome lights.

yah, i c. definitely not worth my time then.

the map light lens change + led is quick and easy. that was fine. GL to the op.

Digi has posted a ton of info on this stuff. Hope you are ok with taking your entire dash apart and handy with a soldering iron.

Ah, you found the original. Yeah it's definitely a pain in the *** but the result looks brilliant. Someday, when I'm out of warranty, I'll give it a go.

I don't mind orange/amber lighting in general, but my Z is red, and orange is just a bad color combo.

I had another look last night and realized that most of the dash lights actually look quite red except for the fuel/temp gauge, which is pretty ugly anyway, and the Start button. Why would they do this? It's a terrible color combination. I'm not a fashion nazi but even a pretty basic dude would not wear orange shorts and a red shirt!!!

OK I'm niggling, but it's a fairly expensive car, and crap design like this would never fly on a German car. Even a Jetta. Then again, if the color of one or two gauges is my biggest problem, I'm doing pretty well.

Time to get that Red GT-R button ordered and at least take care of half the problem...

You can always get aftermarket gauges that light up red and replace the stock 3 in the dash :)
