New belts came in, ready to sent for color changed belts. Who wants to be the first? I'll need your original cores, not lock or damaged. If not need a core charge on them. Core charge is $500. If you sent me your original belts in good condition I'll refund you the core charge.

EVOR 06-16-2015 09:27 AM

OK

JARblue 06-16-2015 09:54 AM

My driver side belt doesn't retract so well any more. It does fine for 90% of the retraction, but the last 10% almost has to be hand fed to take up the last bit slack. Would this be a problem for the core exchange? I wouldn't want someone else to get mine if the retract ability is tied to the core because I know I wouldn't want to get someone else's core that was in a similar condition.

EVOR 06-16-2015 10:21 AM

All core will be inspected and tested. If any core have problem, will be returned. Jarblue the belts has to perfect working condition.

Since this is such an important part of keeping me alive, what's the story on the cores we get with the new belts? Are they from other people's vehicles on this site? What kind of testing do you do on received cores?

Glover997 07-09-2015 11:23 AM

What i don't understand tho, why don't they make them in a color other than black ?!
It's only a color .. just like black! why do we see them only in $$ sport cars ?

Yep. It's usually a pretty pricey upgrade, at least on Porsche.

See Post #53 for his response. Who knows what the testing actually entails though :ugh:

He never addressed my question earlier in the thread regarding reusing the hardware. Hopefully that bolt isn't torque-to-yield.

Is the hardware reuseable or should new bolts be purchased?

Here are the 2 pages from the manual with all of the bolts and torque values indicated.

There is no "X" symbol next to the hardware like in the image below. So that tells me they expect you to reuse them if they aren't damaged. And 36 ft-lbs isn't very much anyway.

Good find, thanks. The seatbelt is one part where I'm not going to be taking any chances.

Just keep in mind this is for the 2013 Z, so make sure to check for whatever year you have. It shouldn't be different, but like you said, you'll want to get this right.

Got a 2k upgrade.....lol well thats for a Porsche if you upgrade to a red seatbelt.
This cost a fraction of it if you do a DIY.
Just installed today.

zmanelite 08-28-2015 07:10 PM

We even have the same seat , looking good man
Did the walkthrough help ?
Anything else you can add or did I miss a step ?

With my Sparco seats I cut off the seat belt extender thing on the top and the belts retract way better

Zoren 370 08-28-2015 07:22 PM

Your thread install was perfect. I used a long nose pliers to pull the sensor while pressing with a screwdriver on the side.

I was about to ask you about that seatbelt extender how did you cut it? Can you take a picture?
Yeah it does interfere with the way the belts slide.
Im afraid the seatbelt would not function when needed because of the seat pressing on the extender.

zmanelite 08-28-2015 07:43 PM

I just used a pair of dykes/wire cutters and cut the belt out
As for where it attaches on the top bolt ,it has a lock washer that you can hold with plyers and just back the bolt out
It looks like this

Remove the part and resemble

Number 5 in the picture
