CinCiTY Designs Custom Headlight Order Journal

FWIW:

Just spoke to Nic about ordering a set of headlights for my red 370Z. Getting the satin black internals with color-coded headlight and turn signal surrounds for $650, plus a fully refundable $700 core deposit. For LEDs (which I didn't order, as I feel this is an "Audi" thing), it's an extra $400. Note, the fee is for the housings only, so I have to move over all the headlight components from my car to the housings he sends me, then ship him my old housings.

I overnighted a money order for $650, and will be placing the deposit via credit card through Nic's bank (he says Paypal charges too high an interest rate...?). He says he'll get back to me within a day or two with details about the deposit as well as when I can expect the headlights here.

More info as I get it...feel free to chime in with questions or opinions on this topic or vendor...

Thanks.

don't understand why paypal or something wouldn't work. money orders are a thing of yesterday and...well, ebay scamming, honestly. but good luck! CinCiTY's done some nice work already, hope yours goes well

wow, $1,150 for paint and some LED's? I did mine myself for less than $100 in parts, and less than a weekend of time...

Without the LED's, that is at most 4 man hours and $50 in paint...

There's another thread here somewhere where Cincity failed to deliver after similar payments and lots of ignored emails and phone calls.... I hate to say it, but.......

(maybe you'll be luckier......Unfortunately you're out the money with no chances of re-couping it if it goes bad). Paypal and Credit cards charge 2.5-3%. Most (all) legitimate businesses build this into their pricing structure and at least offer you some protection....A business asking for a Money order. a direct bank or Western Union transfer is a LARGE red flag. Good luck.

The general reason (it may not be the case with this particular vendor) is because paypal is really good about getting your money back if you get screwed. When I hear "I won't take paypal" I usually go somewhere else.

I personally agree with everyone. Most vendors will also want to protect "themselves" from a fake or bad money order ( work for a bank so I've seen quiet a few of those ). I usually would go to a different vendor if they won't accept paypal or other safer transaction methods (ones where you can trace them to). But hey not everyone is out to scam people. Unfortunatly most are. But goodluck and keep us posted
