Upgrading cluster

Hey guys, I want to upgrade my gauge cluster on a Z and I was wondering if a newer cluster would work with a 2012? I am trying to get it to show me what gear I am in, the one I have now does not show what gear I am in. The cluster doesn't even have a spot made for it. Is this possible to buy a new upgraded cluster and it would be plug and play or do I need more sensors?

What model do u have? If It's The Base Model I don't think the cluster comes with the gear position display. If this is the case and you have a base model, you won't be able to plug and play with an upgraded gauge cluster. The cluster will work but you will have no display on the shift position display as the base model does not come equipped with this wiring which is also the same wiring for the "SRM" (Synco- Rev Match)

I have base, I just wanted the same cluster as my sport to show me gears. How can I install that wiring?

Anyone?

I don't think you can. The car needs to have a sport ECU and other things I believe

Thanks for the input Andrew

What about all the 370's that come stock with their gear showing that are non sport? 2014 models and 2013

A lot has changed, best bet, contact Nut n much, buy his Nismo cluster, and see if it works in either your car or your project.

Upgrading cluster

Or I could swap clusters from my sport model with my project. Never knew it hurt to save money. That's why i research before I purchase.

wont work bud

Beyond this, changing the gauge cluster means swapping out the odometer as well. And that isn't allowed under Federal tampering rules.

Dragon_Ball_Z 03-14-2015 03:18 PM

So every car with a different odometer is breaking the rules? They can be recalibrated to the car's mileage at the dealer. A lot of people swap odometers, for example the guy swapping his odometer for the Nismo one broke the rules?

swapping clusters doesnt change the odometer in modern cars. ive done it before.
