Need some exterior suggestions
 

Can anyone give me some ideas or links to a few nice looking kits or addons that aren't insanely expensive? hopefully that isn't too stupid and broad of a question. Feel free to make fun of me if it is. :confused:

jk man although that is a pretty broad question. I'm not much of a body kit guy, but what I do know is that expensive is relative, so you will want to give everyone an idea of your budget if you really want their advice. Also, aesthetics are incredibly subjective.

Real body kits can get very expensive. Replicas are cheaper but still cost money. Enough people are ok with replicas that there is obviously a market. However, know that you get what you pay for. The real deal is typically much better fitting with much less labor involved to get the body kit installed properly. Also, make sure you find a good shop for the install and budget for labor. Labor can be 2-3 times the estimate if you buy a replica kit because much more work may be involved to get proper fitment.

I suggest you start with familiarizing yourself with the various body kits available and see what you like best. Do your research for any questions you might have about those kits. You should be able to find a variety of threads on this forum using the search function.

There are lots of small addons to buy like lips and spoilers and such. You'll need to do some research to see what you like best. Just don't be this guy :ugh: :icon17:

ok so I should start looking at lowering kits first then. How difficult is that to make happen. Assuming difficult is ........relative.

Try some searching please. You're asking us to spoon feed you.

Springs, coilovers, and air suspension are the typical methods. There are a variety of options at varying costs. Difficult is very relative. Are you DIYing this stuff? Then it will depend on your skill and experience. If you're farming the work out to a shop then more difficulty typically equals more costs. Do you have a budget? There's a lot to consider here.

That doesn't even cover the need for certain suspension upgrades to keep your alignment in check depending on what you install and how low you want to go. It sounds like you have much to learn

Try to attend some Z meets in your area. Try to hook up with fellow Z members and see and ask what you think is best fits your budget.
Im from FL about 1hr from jax.

Modding a car is never cheap. Especially when you decide to mess with your suspension.

PM Jonathan Vach, it's his car. Probably coilovers with a camber kit and maybe SPL arms. Just guessing though.

OP - I would strongly recommend you limit your search to front lips, rear spats, etc.

A lot less money and work involved and I think you will be happy with the results. Lots of members here have killer Z's without going through the hassle of bodykits. Also think about your wheels and stance too.

ok thanks for making me sound like a total noob lol. Not asking to be spoon fed. I've been searching just thought a quick response and some estimated $$ figures from someone who's already done something similar might give me a quick idea of what i'm getting myself into and maybe I'll run into someone who enjoys talking about these things. I'm obviously not expecting ALL the specifics and instructions from you.

So lets please not treat me like a total retard :happydance: I just don't have experience lowering cars but you're right, I have much to learn. Gotta start somewhere. Just thought this would be a good place.

This forum is a fantastic place to start. May I suggest some heavy reading in the Tech Area Exterior section :tup: Then, once you have some good basic knowledge, you can pick the brains of fellow forum members with similar setups about specific details about their setup.

Some people like to go all out and customize their Z so that it is truly one of a kind. I am of the mindset that less is more when it comes to the exterior of the Z. I think it looks great stock :twocents:

Also, we should be clear that exterior aesthetics and suspension modifications are two very different modifications. Often they go hand in hand but not always.
