Paint job on my 370z

Hey guys, I went to maaco the other day to get my nismo bumper painted for the 2nd. It's definatly a lot closer than it was before to the same color, I just want some outside opinions on if I'm being to picky or not. I know it's never going to be perfect but it just pops out so much more to me and it bugs me to death. I have a appointment to get the bumper blended in with the hatch a little bit to hopefully please me! Hahah I'll attach pictures. The bumper on the ground is my old bumper just so you can compare the 2.

In the light it doesn't look as bad, what should I do to help them get a close match!

TerribleONE 01-22-2015 10:43 AM

Doesn't look all that bad in the picture. Find a better shop??

Good luck

Maybe its a regional thing, but a MAACO would be the last place I'd bring anything but a daily beater to be painted, nevermind something like a 370z.

You don't have access to a regular premium bodyshop to do real paint work?

Wilson2608 01-22-2015 10:49 AM

Yeah kinda regretting it now, didn't know maaco had a bad reputation till after all of this. Kinda sucks but if they can't fix it I'll have to pay someone who can.

Yeah, when a shop's main marketing push is that they'll paint your entire car for $199, you're probably better off to look elsewhere.

Wilson2608 01-22-2015 11:25 AM

Hahhah well they tried to charge me 1500 dollars for the whole car

Which should have been the first clue. :rofl2: Go find a reputable shop and have it redone, or live with it the way it is. Maaco is pretty much the worst place you could take a car you give a damn about.

Wilson2608 01-22-2015 11:29 AM

Yeah guess that's how it's going to have to happen.. I hate maaco. :(

And I was not aware they sucked as a shop, I heard 300 dollars for the bumper with install and got trigger happy. Guess I'll have to go to another place to get it redone

Don't let them touch your fenders with paint

Also bear in mind from factory the plastic parts don't match.

Well like I said, this is the 2nd time they have painted it and on the 2nd time they "blended" it with my quarter panels so they've pretty much already messed it all up. I'm going to get my money back today and send it to a better shop. Lucky for me Bryan at maaco guaranteed a color match, I've been coasting on that everytime I talk to them so since they guaranteed the color match they are going to have to give me a refund.

I would give it a few weeks - then hit the bumper with a polisher before making any decisions.

This maybe unrelated but Maaco does **** work down in my area. I will never recommend them. I have only heard bad things about them.

Macco WTF!... they're not exactly know for high quality work. Find a painter or an auto body shop with a reputation for great paint work

Datsun240Z71 01-23-2015 06:49 AM

Try Price's Collision Center or Benchmark Collision in Nashville. I've heard people that had good experiences at both.

Personally, my wife's Hyundai got hit ($4,000 in damage) and Ford of Franklin did a great job repairing (replacing) the rear door and rear quarter and matched paint perfectly. They are the "recommended" body shop for several different dealers in Franklin area.

As for MAACO, I've also heard their store on Foster Ave. is okay. Is that the one you used?

Wilson2608 01-23-2015 12:34 PM

I'm located in Murfreesboro, all in all they are going to blend the colors and try it again. If it isn't what I like they said they would pay someone else to do it for me.
