thank you for the pictures ^^^. I really like mine on my G37.

TAKEDA explained as to why they decided to make a small sheild instead of the full heat shield.

The heat generated by the radiator hose next to the intake on the passenger side was where the heat soak was coming from when they were testing and doing dyno runs. Only the passenger side was getting heat soak so they decided to make a small shield to minimize the heat and sure enough, after that cover they saw better gains while doing the dyno

I also did some of my own testing. I have the magden computer on my car and i was testing the AIR INTAKE TEMPS while driving to san diego. The air intake was typically 20 deg hotter than outside temp just like the stock air box on cruising speed. Once i stepped on the throttle, the air intake dropped 10 deg within seconds.

Here's some pictures of the TAKEDA installed on my G:tup:

Thanks your definetly going to love the intake. Just a heads up when I disconnected my battery and reconnected it the automatic roll down feature on the windows got disabled. If your windows dont roll up automatically when you shut your door after reconnecting the battery perform the following steps (I almost took my car in thinking I blew a senors or something).

If the windows do not close automatically
If the power window automatic function (closing
only) does not operate properly, perform the
following procedure to initialize the power
window system.
1. Push the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. Close the door.
3. Open the window completely by operating
the power window switch.
4. Pull the power window switch and hold it to
close the window, and then hold the switch
more than 3 seconds after the window is
closed completely.
5. Release the power window switch. Operate
the window by the automatic function to
confirm the initialization is complete.
6. Perform steps 2 through 5 above for other
windows.

Caravanshaka 08-03-2009 12:22 PM

Guys, if you are thinking about an intake this price is HARD to pass up.

For me, it was intake and sleeping on the couch, or no intake and sleeping with the wife...I'm sticking with stock intakes for now :(

theDreamer 08-03-2009 12:23 PM

Sorry to hear that. :(
I will be getting a baseline dyno today and a follow up after the intake is installed, so keep a look out for numbers. :)

Please keep in mind that the ECU has to learn the new intake. Reset your ecu after install, drive it for about 150 miles before you dyno, Hopefully you do more than 3 pulls also. From my experience with the G37 community, if these process is not followed, you won't see the true numbers.

thanks and i can't wait to see your dyno numbers:tup:

theDreamer 08-03-2009 01:28 PM

Oh, I do not even have the intakes yet. ;)
Dyno run today and probably will not get back onto the same dyno until the end of the week or early next week. Is there a difference in doing a battery unplug for a reset and just letting the car naturally learn the new part?

Edit: Lou, will I get a tracking number for my intakes?

import111 08-04-2009 11:26 AM

I can't wait to see the power gains. I am debating between this intake and the HKS.

LOU@AMPLIFIED 08-04-2009 02:43 PM

Wow that was quick..lol I thought its not coming in till the 6th but if it came in early, even better.

Glad you like em. Thanks again and let me know if i can help you with any other parts, i'll be more than happy to help on the best pricing possible.

Remember, if you do the dyno, Let your ecu re learn the intake and dyno them after a few hundred miles after install:tup:
