Opinions needed on choices for resonated y-pipes
I'm trying to purchase a Y-pipe (Resonated) part but need some input on which brand or company to go with. Right now, looking at the Motordyne XYZ Y-pipe..
Thanks! :tiphat: |
That's about the only real choice you have right now. You can run resonated test pipes instead of a resonated Y pipe if it's cheaper. I liked my MD Y pipe. I had the cat and the resonator. There was no rasp on either, the resonator was louder and deeper, the cat was quieter.

I'm eventually gonna buy the FI HFC and was wondering if the combo would produce any rasp, but no one has ran the 2 parts before. Would a tune fix the sound as well? (Sorry I'm a noob haha) Getting all the parts needed and installing them in summer before I get a tune. |

A tune won't help with rasp. The F.I. HFC's are 300CEL, they won't produce rasp. I ran long tubes, the MD Y pipe (with cat) and a tanabe exhaust with no rasp. There is just the slightest hint at warmup. I think the best and most inexpensive route if you're running a Y pipe, is to just add the cat to the Y pipe and run resonated test pipes if it's too loud or has raspy.
$925 for F.I. resonated testpipes and MD Y pipe with HFC or $950 for F.I. cats and MD Y pipe with resonator. Guess it's a bit of a wash. At least having it at the Y gives you options to swap it out with a TP/res/cat whenever you want. |
