How they damage it? It's pretty well protected behind the bumper. OP, where you live at?

Solid370z 01-08-2015 03:26 AM

Could hitting a pot hole could've done this?

Rusty, I'm in New Jersey.

juld0zer 01-08-2015 05:07 AM

plastic weld or glue it back together. surely it's not cracked into two pieces but who knows... you can pull your fender liner and check it out for yourself.

Which dealership did u go to? And did you buy your car new or used?

Northern climate. Did you ever put just water into it? No washer fluid at any time? If you did. I'm then thinking that it froze and cracked.

And no reason to pay the dealer $300 to replace it. If you can't repair the crack a replacement tank is about $125 shipped and maybe an hr of your time to swap out.

Zoren 370 01-08-2015 08:32 AM

$10 for an aquarium silicone sealant at home depo

Is this something a beginner could do?

Nope, unless the previous owner did, car came with roughly 1200 miles though.

Do you have a standard tool set with metric wrenches/sockets?

I repaired a crack on my old frontier using a plastic jb weld. Sealed it right up and never had to revisit it. What's a tube cost less than 10 bucks?

Yes. The hard part will be getting to the bottle. The FSM has exploded diagrams and procedures.

Came across that link on Google. But I'm hoping I could get the crack sealed otherwise I will have to get it replaced. Also, my car was bought from a dealer in WI.

Oh I see...maybe its cover under your warranty??

That's what I was thinking. That or I know Eastwood sells a plastic repair kit for around $20.

Removing the bumper is pretty quick and easy. I can have mine on the ground in under 10 mins.

juld0zer 01-08-2015 05:23 PM

you dont need to take the bumper off. it can be done by removing the right fender liner. Follow the instructions for fitting the AEM CAI

Can you remove the tank from the fender? Even if you can I would argue it is faster to drop the bumper than remove the tire and pull the liner

Yeah, the tank is held in by 3 screws... I don't think you can get to two of them unless you take the bumper off...

juld0zer 01-08-2015 06:03 PM

yep it's accessible from the fender. all bolts are accessible too. the only part that isnt is the neck which you rotate while pulling upwards after removing all fasteners from above.

You guys are lucky because you dont have headlight washers and dont have pedestrian protection hood mechanisms. The latter is why i hate removing the front bumper, because of the 3 impact sensors attached to the bumper which have very short looms.

Solid370z 01-08-2015 06:04 PM

Thanks for your suggestions. I will try to check when the weather gets better.
