New Transmission -- warranty replacement #5

So, took my car to the dealership today to report some issues I've been having. I've got about 13,000 miles on the clock and recently 3rd and 6th gears started grinding on occasion , as well as, stiffness trying to shift into 6th. Shifts from 3rd to 4th were odd too, for whatever reason synchro rev-match was revving my car about 1-2k RPM's for an upshift :( . I ended up having the head mechanic drive my car with me riding shotgun ; they wanted to replicate the issue with me not driving and it paid off. The car acted up with him driving ... long story short I get a new transmission. Per them , " we're not sure what's causing the grinding, your clutch is fine -- we better replace the transmission"

I hope all this this crap going wrong isn't a sign of things to come. I just want my car to stop having stupid crap break and in the shop every other week for warranty work *sigh*

They are machines and somethings may go wrong for one person and never again for another. I hope the new tranny fixes the problem. It is the first Sync-rev match!

thanks for the support. I hope it fixes the issue too.

Lou - how long does something like that usually take to get shipped? It seems that a tranny would be a rare part in stock and I'm thinking it would be coming from Japan, even though i was told a week.

Badass, Transmission is replaced. On my way to go get the car back. Screw having a nissan sentra.

A few of these transmission stories have come up now. I'm wondering if the people having the transmission failures are novices to manual transmissions. Did you learn to drive manual on your 370Z? Perhaps the car doesn't lend itself well to those learning to drive stick.

Nope, not a novice. The last 4 cars I've owned have been sticks. 11 years of driving a manual ftw. I'm going to have to go with crappy build quality on the transmission for the root of the issue.

The new transmission is great !! I went for a 100 mile test after getting it back from the dealership. It feels like a completely different car. The most unexpected result is that I've no longer got the 1st to 2nd notorious clunk that so many are complaining about and the chattery sound when leaving first is greatly reduced. Each gear feels awesome and very firm with no issues shifting anymore.:happydance: I'm stoked and feel like I actually got what I paid for now

Did they replace your clutch and flywheel as well? If you wouldn't mind, post the part numbers it was replaced with. That way, everyone here can reference that part# when their tranny goes out.
