Help do I need a new battery?

2009 with 45k miles. The dealer said my battery is only cranking at 390 cold cranking amps when it should be 600. My car always starts up though do I need to replace?

It's about time. That battery is 5 years old or so. It won't be long. I would go ahead and replace it to keep from being stranded one day.

:iagree:

I just went thru the same thing just recently, and I noticed a big difference now that it starts without laboring.

I replaced mine with a Sears DieHard Platinum.

I did notice it also ran a little better after the replacement.

My battery died around the same mileage, and I have an '09. I'd replace it.

Is your battery starting to bulge on the sides at all?

As everyone else is saying, probably best to go ahead and replace at that age. You may be able to get a little more out of the battery if you will make sure the cells are filled to the proper level. The dealer should have checked that when they did the test, but it's worth double-checking.

If it were me, I'd just replace it. I'd hate to be stranded somewhere looking for a jump...

Yes its time for a new one. 4 to 6 years is average life on batteries.

Yeah I ended up replacing. It cranks up a hell of a lot faster now lol

honestly i've been noticing mine is a little sluggish on the start up lately. i cant tell if it's due to dropping temps in PA with fall weather or it's a 2009 with 39k miles and the original battery lol
