Just checked their website, I dont think Z1 sells Redline anymore. Looks like they opted for Motul...

Chuck33079 09-29-2014 09:40 AM

Didn't look too hard I guess.

Red Line MT-85

I agree with Chuck and Blue, these guys know their s***! I've been using redline for a while, it's great.

Bad Boy 09-29-2014 09:45 AM

OMG I used the search button "redline" and nothing popped up. I swear!

BTW, OP...

I responded to your post on the differential fluid DIY thread. You do not need an extra quart (2 is fine) for the diff fluid. However, the transmission fluid calls for 3 qt, and it is recommended that you get an extra. The fluid you're pumping into the transmission should come out the fill hole when full.

Z1 begs to differ, it says I should get an extra...?

It's "Red Line", not "Redline". But no worries. We gotcha covered :tiphat:

Bad Boy 09-29-2014 09:50 AM

Also the MT-85 on this site doesnt specify how much it is, im guessing its 1qt as well?

Not quite... unless you are planning to remove the rear diff cover (i.e. if you are installing the finned diff cover). Two should be fine since a normal drain does not completely empty the diff, as mentioned.

If you are removing the rear cover, we recommend purchasing a third bottle as the actual capacity of the differential is 2.25qts. During a drain and fill you will never be able to completely empty the differential so 2 bottles is sufficient.

Yes, each bottle is going to be a 1 qt bottle.

FWIW, if you're really wanting to pick them up locally, find a bike or other auto shop around town and ask them to order them for you. I have done this several times, and I get the fluid within 24 hours typically.

Bad Boy 09-29-2014 09:54 AM

Also Im trying to search for the 4 seals, any help? Lol.

You mean the washers? Yup :tiphat:

Nissan Part #11026-4N200

For the transmission they are called a gasket. For the differential, they are called a washer. Same part number. Good job, Nissan :icon14:

Bad Boy 09-29-2014 09:57 AM

Found it! I remembered reading that Z1 also provides them

These are it, correct? OEM Transmission/ Diff Drain Plug Sealing Washer

JARblue 09-29-2014 10:00 AM

That's them.

Bad Boy 09-29-2014 10:11 AM

Order has been placed. Now I need to buy a pump, jack stands, and a drip pan.
Probably wont get this done till my next day off, which is Monday, unless I decide to wake up early later on in the week and get it done.

OP, no offense but you really don't sound like a very mechanically inclined person. Do you have a friend or family member that knows about working on cars? I think its best to have someone help you out at least the first time around, especially since you will be working underneath the car. Yes that thread you linked us to has all the answers as far as jack and stand placement... I just hate to see someone with very little mechanical knowledge doing it by themselves for the first time. Just be safe bro whatever you do.

And my profile clearly states that I am 23 yrs old. I probably have better credit then you do.

Are you sure you have the stands in the correct spot? Even with my 4ton stands in place, I still leave my floor jack underneath the area I'll be working just in case. I've seen too many Final Destination movies not to.

Ive seen multiple areas to set up the stands, but Im using the pinch welds. Being that the jack stands are as low as they can go (not extended), I doubt the car can drop on me right? Lol.

Motionmagic 09-30-2014 02:26 PM

Thanks for the entertaining thread.

:tiphat:

BTW, My '09 370Z has close to 46K miles and I changed to Red Line in my diff and trans as suggested and it made a big difference. I was not really having any issues, but at 46K and not knowing if/or when the oil had been changed I wanted to get it done.

Didn't want to read the whole forum, but in case nobody said it, My car was very stiff with everything when I first bought it. Even with the clutch pedal spring helper, the gears were very rough to get in from shifter to transmission. Now at 6300, everything loosened up and it goes in like butter

Do be careful there, a guy on another forum died a few years ago due to a jack falling. Not jerking your chain there.
