Does anyone know what the function of this part is?

Happened to look under the hood the other day in preparation for an upcoming track weekend and noticed that this part had sheared in half. No idea how long it has been broken (as it is a little hard to see the break). It is a part of the LH stock air intake. Basically the lower nipple broke off.

Attachment 94639

Anyone else have this happen? Of course, I can't just buy the part from Nissan, I have to buy the entire intake for this crappy plastic part.

I believe that the part is removed it you are using the Stillen intakes. Anyone want to sell me theirs?

That lets crankcase gases back into the intake manifold which then gets eventually burned during combustion.

This not a rare thing to happen as quite a few members over the years have had this break including me.

I would recommend for the time being to remove both pieces and use some Krazy glue to hold them together, But know that it will eventually break again with the heat so replace it asap.

That piece is still used with the Stillens.

Look in the classified for someone who's selling one cheap.

That's what I thought. I checked the inside and it was completely clean. No residue, oil, nothing, which I thought was odd if that was it's purpose. Guess I will try to find a used one.

Thanks for the quick response!

Thanks, Trips.

Tried gluing them, but as soon as the engine got hot, the glue let go. I have a track weekend coming up and need this fixed soon.

I am trying to find a used one. Nissan wants $146 for the intake and all I need is the stupid plastic part!

Trips 09-21-2014 07:48 PM

Krazy glue will work but you need to let it set before re-installing

I did mine and it lasted for 6 months before it broke again.

I agree on how that part from Nissan is a freakin ripoff! :shakes head:

I should have this piece since I have the stillen SC. If I can find it its yours no charge but that's IF I can find it. My garage is a freaking nightmare

critical 09-21-2014 09:11 PM

I got one. Pm me

nismolucino 09-21-2014 09:52 PM

Just upgrade to the z1 silicone replacements.

quickboat 09-22-2014 08:41 AM

I believe the Nissan part is just a hollow piece. So just put a 5/8 90 degree elbow in there used for PVC pluming.

Thanks, Critical. PM sent.

Nomodsjk: I appreciate the offer and will gladly take your part. I am in a bit of a hurry and it sounds as if you need a good garage cleaning first!;) If you come-up with it, let me know.

Not sure that the Z1 hoses don't need this part as well. Anyone with knowledge can let me know?

Help/5/8 x 5/8 in. plastic universal elbow (47062) | Heater Hose Quick Connector | AutoZone.com

^^^^ What he said. I suggested the same thing on the G37 forum. The connector pictured above will serve the same function as the oem piece and probably never break.

1slow370 09-22-2014 07:08 PM

The oem piece is offset though so a straight elbow may not fit.
