Clutch Slave Cylinder question

anyone out there have their Clutch slave cylinder failing?
My 07 z33 start failing [clutch pedal won't go back up] and I'm scared it will happen to my 14 z34 on the future.. :shakes head:

Tons of people. It is a known issue with the OEM CSC. Your best bet is to replace it with a upgraded unit from ZSpeed or Z1 Motorsports, before it fails. If you have to pull the transmission for any kind of work, clutch, flywheel, etc, it is highly recommended to replace the CSC at that time as well. The CSC will return to full open and suck up a bunch of the dirty fluid, which will shorten the life even more.

I just had it happen to my 2013 Z with 10.5k miles. It happened in the midst of heavy traffic some 115 miles from my home. Could not shift into gear. Eventually towed it to the NAFSA dealership. CSC failed and leaked. It took them 3-4 days, the ordered parts arrived. They replaced it along with GTR fluid (as Nissan told them). Right now its running great.

It was under warranty so I did it through my dealership at no cost to me.

It happened on my '13 when I had 4500 miles on it. Had it towed to the dealership and they changed the fluid to GTR brake fluid. It's still OK at 10K now but it will go out I know. Mine is still under warranty so Nissan can fix it on their dime for the next 2 years. If I have to have it replaced I'm going to try to talk them into installing the Zspeed heavy duty one instead of the OEM plastic one. Some folks here have been able to talk their dealership into doing that... some have not. Like aszdy said, the Zspeed or Z1 are the way fix the problem. You will need to replace the CSC and the CMC both.

What are some signs maybe to look out for resulting to this issue? I've observed a minimal, but noticeable difference in how the car shifts lately. Not sure if this is related, but the rev-matches are becoming more rough as well. At about 13k miles on a 10 coupe.

For the CSC it's that the clutch pedal goes to the floor and doesn't return. It's a failure of the hydraulic system which engages the clutch. Some folks have instant/complete failure and some have the clutch pedal stuck halfway down and can return it up with their foot and continue shifting. In my case it was a total failure and I had to have my Z towed to the dealership. Regarding the shifting issue, I changed my tranny fluid to Redline synthetic and my shifting is much smoother. I used to have a little clunk and sometimes even a bit of a grind going from 1-2 gear. It's much better since I changed to the Redline tranny fluid. You might give it a try. It's not a day/night difference, but it's noticeable and worth the $40.
