Race gas pump vs concentrate.

RACE GAS | Racing Fuel Concentrate

Anyone used this kind of stuff? Pros cons vs out of a pump?

I been using this on my track days. I know for a fact it increases the octane as tested with my knock headphones. I do not however know by how much. I just use it on days where the car is going to be rat bagged for the day. So far so good. This is supposed to go up 7 octane numbers (not points) and is one of the few additves with MMT we have up here.

Just buy pump race gas. 100 octane. I wouldn't rely on additives

Not always easy for people to do.

Check out boostane.

Z1 has had great success with this. Check their Facebook for videos and dyno pulls

If you cant do it right, then dont do it. Thats how I think of it.

Especially on a TT build where he is making over 600rwhp. Not worth screwing that up

I have never used any octane booster that work. It has been a while since I bought VP C12 or C14.

Any octane booster you buy from a parts store will not work, I have mixed my own race gas but I also know what and how much of each chemical I want and where to get it. Some of the boosters and concentrates do work, but they are NOT cheap, and the main problem with them is mix consistency. Fuel from the pump is ok consistency once you get into the 100octane range, fuel from the can is ALWAYS dead on, when you mix it yourself you need 120% accuracy to get the number you want and the additive, and base fuel manufacturer can't be off or lying at all. Some of the boosters that do work don't work as well as they say depending on the fuel they are being mixed into, this is due to certain chemicals having thresholds. As an example Toluene when mixed into virgin gas can bump octane when mixed up to 5% past that there is no increase so if the 91 you start with has 2% toluene in it already and your additive is toluene based it will only give you 60% of the gain it says it will since the extra would be wasted.

All I can say to the crap I brought up is I listened to the difference on the headphones. But I am only using it as a extra barrier when at the track. On the street the car will run 94 all day. But you guys are right, if your trying to take 91 up to 100 and need 100 octane then I would not use it at all.

Single Can - Race Gas | Real 100 Octane Race Fuel Concentrate
$30 a quart

Toluene Quart
$12 a quart maybe even cheaper didn't look much.

Toluene has been used as an additive by numerous racers.

I have used Toluene on my trip to Montana awhile back with 0 issues. Crazy they have 85 octane fuel down there.
