S-Mode Warning Light after new Southbend Clutch/Flywheel installed

Did anyone ever ran into issue where the SRM (S-Mode) no longer working after a new clutch/light weight flywheel installed? Every time I tried to push the S-Mode button, the S-Mode warning message appear and the gear indicator no longer appear. I have checked all of the connectors but still couldn't find a way to make SRM working again. The SRM works fine before I replaced my clutch/flywheel. Thanks.

Make sure you're pressing and holding the button for 2-3 seconds to engage it. Its not just one quick little press.

My first guess is that the gear position sensor was either not plugged in or was damaged when transmission was removed

I have verified the connector and it seen to have plug in properly and if the gear position sensor got damaged, the engine either will not start or enter limp mode.

check that the clutch pedal sensors are connected. how does the engine feel? sluggish? my first guess is installation error for the flywheel - inattention to orientation of the crank angle identifier cutouts.

there is also a shaft speed sensor on the rear end of the gearbox. this tells the ecu the output shaft speed (tailshaft). in the fsm it's called input speed sensor but it's the same sensor. make sure it's connected and not damaged.

i cant remember how else i've induced the SRM fault by accident. but i seem to recall it's one of the sensors in the footwell which i accidentally disconnected and drove off.

check the SRM switch itself - does it light up when your headlights are on? maybe it was accidentally left disconnected

I just had this happen after putting in a clutch. with no gear indicator light and S-Mode giving an error. The sensor on top of the tail shaft (just in front of gearshift) was not plugged in all the way.

Yes, I know this was an old thread, but the more info the better right?

Thanks. Apparently that was the problem that I had. One of the gear sensor was not plugged in.

there is also an output (labelled as input shaft sensor in the FSM and parts catalog) shaft speed sensor which is crucial to SRM function. It's what tells the control unit how much to blip the throttle. This sensor is towards the rear of the box also, on the left side from memory
