aFe Pro-Dry S Air Filters vs. K&N ???
Hi all,
How do aFe Pro-Dry S drop in filters compare to K&N drop in filters? Anyone running these aFe Pro-Dry S filters? Looks like you don't have to "oil" these aFe Pro-Dry S Air Filters as you do with the K&N's. look forward to reading everyones input. :stirthepot: |
Alright, I'll bite...
I run the aFe Dry Filters and they work fine. (I believe the consensus is that the K&N or aFe high flow filters will give you about 5 additional hp.) I previously ran oiled K&N filters on my last car (a BMW) and they also worked great; however, cleaning and oiling the filters was a weekend project. Thus, I elected to go with a dry filter for convenience. |
I've used K&N filters for years in several of my vehicles. I have a K&N filter in my '03 Sport Trac. According to K&N, their filters work better with a bit of dirt on them. So, it's been sitting there for 11 years and never been cleaned. I check it once in a while for any build up of dirt and give it a few taps. They are very reliable and filter forever. Never had a problem with them and only ever cleaned one once. Took a few hours.

K&N filter do well in the right circumstances. Cleaning and oiling them is not a problem It is something you do every 20-30,000 miles depending on how dirty they get. Piece of cake.
