Thread pitch for sending unit

Does anyone know the thread pitch for a standard sending unit, ex. Defi oil temp sending unit. I removed the sending unit from my oil pan spacer and now I need to fill the hole, tee hee hee.

Also, can/should I use loctite on it, or should I use thread tape?

I'm just a noob :wtf2:

1/8" BPST?? http://www.z1motorsports.com/g37_370...oducts_id=2822 ??

I read that liquid thread sealer is preferred over teflon tape.

1/8" NPT is very common.

The manual that comes with my Defi gauges states the sending unit is ⅛" PT. I'm trying to find a screw/bolt to fit the hole. When I search for ⅛" pt bolt on the Google, nothing comes up. :ugh2: Possibly ¼" (28) x desired length.

Look for a "pipe plug".

Don't use teflon tape unless you know what you are doing - too easy to end up with pieces of PTFE floating around and plugging stuff up. I'd use a very small amount of pipe dope. Keep it away from the end that goes in the engine.

Perfect. You got me on the right track now. Thank you :tiphat:

Most of the fuel pressure gauge kits I sent out, I included a 1/8 npt plug in the billet fitting. Only the first few that went out didnt get them. Its not listed as included but I figured I should include them anyway. At any rate, if there was a plug in your billet gauge fitting I sent you, it will probably fit right in there.

Are y'all sure it's 1/8" NPT/NPTF and not 3 mm (or other metric measure) with metric pipe threads? Just wondering as most of my mechanicin' has been on "English" stuff, not metric.

the defi guages are for sure 1/8-28 bspt, the oem sensor is 1/8-28 bspt many usa made sensors are 1/8-27 npt which is not the same and cannot be interchanged. You can get it to seal and hold but it won't be right.
