Normal Operating Temp?
New 370Z owner here with a temp question. Do these cars tend to run hotter than most? I just left mine sitting in the garage for the last 2 hours after a very short drive to let it cool down before I begin to polish the hood, and the hood is still very warm to the touch.
While driving my temp gauge stays 1 dot below halfway mark. My oil temp is typically ~200 but has been as high as 220 on the upper dash gauge during normal driving. Does this all sound normal? It's my daily driver, but it's only about 10 miles to work for me, and I try my best to drive responsibly ;) |
212F (100C) Normal operating temp like every other car. Depending on if you drive it like a Prius or a Ferrari will skew the results one way or the other.

They do but what you describe sounds ok. Limp mode is 230 or 240. If you csn afford an oil cooler i would suggest doing so.

Thanks for helping me put my mind at ease. Again, I'm new to the Z and it was really just the warmth of the hood after sitting in the garage for so long that got me thinking. I haven't noticed any driveability issues... just paranoid is all.
Speaking of paranoid... time to finish reading posts about the "clutch tingle" haha. My pedal taps like a mofo! |

Not to change the subject, but as far as that tingly feeling, i believe you're feeling the motions of the clutch and transmission spinning. If you put your foot on the clutch whether in gear or sitting at nuetral, if you push down the clutch pedal to the point before it grabs, meaning you CAN'T put it into a gear, you can feel the tingle. Probably a Nissan thing cause i never felt it in any other car.
Correct me if i'm wrong of course |
Nah, that's not it. It's more of a random tapping sensation and it's most noticeable when clutch pedal is fully depressed to the floor.
There are a few other threads I've been reading with a few others that have the same tap/clicking sensation. Can't seem to find a definitive root cause or solution. Some say it's normal, others a problem with the pedal assembly, and still others say it's inside the trans. TBD... Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk |
