Whining from engine bay

After some spirited driving, I begin to notice a slight whining sound coming from the engine bay at low RPM's. Sounds maybe like belts? I don't know. Can y'all chime in? Thanks

Show this to your engine bay:

There are so many noises that people complain about that are completely normal for this engine that I'm half tempted to just tell you it's normal and be done with it.

Inspect your belts if you suspect them. An audio clip is very helpful if you're looking for interweb diagnostics.

also post up a few picts of this whining. that helps too..

Looks like you're getting some productive responses...

I've never had a noticeable whining sound from the engine bay of my 2009 7AT after even the most aggressive sustained driving. Were you poking around in there before the spirited driving? Did you hit any serious bumps or get airborne at any time? Check belt, hoses, and piping.

Hmm seems normal was this noise not present before?

Could be throttle bodies that is normal. Could be power steering, my mom has 13 Altima which had a sound to it, Nissan doesn't have a fix but the dealer heard people complain about this before and put some kind of shim in between and it doesn't cry anymore. ECM has a high pitch that I think people complained about before, try searching.

My engine has a little whine to it. It's normal.

not a productive enough response... :shakes head:

Are you sure it's not from the passenger seat? That is the source of most of mine.

Probably normal. Could be PS pump, alternator, injectors, TB actuators, or many other things that tend to whine on modern engines. Use something like a piece of flexible tubing held to your ear to pinpoint the source. Be careful not to let tubing, clothing, body parts, &c come in contact with moving/hot parts.

A sound clip would help with remote troubleshooting. What you call a "whine" others might call a "buzz" or "whirr."

Have you checked to see whether someone left a baby under your hood? :wtf2:
