VDC Always off in morning?

Hi guys, I am new here so Hello!

I have a question, I just bought a 2010 Z touring. It seems like VDC is always off in the morning, even if I hit the button? The mornings have been cold 35-45F. When I leave work to come home VDC is on.. Has anyone experienced this? Then if I press to turn it off, it doesn't turn off. Almost like the button is there for show.

Welcome to the forum.

When you say VDC is off is the light with the car skidding "on" constantly or intermittent? If it's coming on and off your VDC is working correctly and telling you that the roads are cold and on stock tires the car is wanting to slide around.

If the light is on constantly and you didn't turn it off you have a problem that should be looked at by a professional. PM DEpoint50 or kenchan as they are well versed in this category.

No loss at all....mine is ALWAYS off unless it's raining buckets. But yeah, get it checked. Could be indicative of a bigger problem.

Every morning it shows the car skidding, then on the way home from work it's gone. Someone with a G I know said to hold it down for 10 seconds?

Possibly a bad wheel sensor.

Hmm ok.. I suppose I should call the dealership

Walk outside, start the car. VDC off with skidding car, it remains this way all the way to work (about 12 miles). Car sits all day in the parking garage all day, when I walk to my car after work, start her up, there is no VDC off or skidding car on my display.

I am heading out for a cruise in a min. I will take some pics

VDC OFF by default turns off when you turn the car off. It should never be on when you start the car (note this is a double negative). Definitely sounds like something you should have looked at.

Can you confirm that VDC is actually off when the light is illuminated? I.e. can you spin the tires and get the slip light to flash? There is a VDC OFF light (constant illumination) and a slip light (flashes when wheel slip is detected).

Had the same issue took it to the dealer and they recomended a full brake fluid flush (crazy right). Went ahead and did it just because I was at the mileage to do so anyway. But I think they just reset what ever sensor is causing the light to come on during regular driving conditions. :driving:

I agree with the others this sounds like something you need to have looked at.

Question for you... When you bring the rpms up aggressively does you're ebrake indicator light ever flash on and off?

ssphotography 04-27-2014 02:15 PM

I have never had the rpms above 4000... Lol I just got it. I have not seen that though.

IIRC, low brake fluid level will cause VDC to mess up under acceleration. Doesn't have to be very low. I'd go ahead and top off the reservoir just because it's an easy job. ;)
