Impul High Power ECU

Hey guys,

Has anyone yet installed any JDM ECU?
Is there any difference between left and right steering vehicles ECU?

DEpointfive0 04-05-2014 02:32 AM

No one has

Hmm, i wonder why? because "no one has" ?)

I just bought Impul Hi Power ECU from Japan, want to try it out on my left steering z

No one wants to risk throwing that much money without knowing if it works.
And since the 370Z market is dead (it was never alive really) there is almost no way that the Impul tune will be better than what any tuner can do.

We'd be happy to see before and after dyno results though

Morfiy 04-05-2014 03:40 AM

I don' t say that IMPUL is better then other ECU) But I rather "plug it and play" then crack the brains with UpRev. IMPUL saying only about Speed limit removal, higher rpms, ignition etc.
Another reason is - Impul is Japanese corporation.
Unfortunately there's no dyno on my neighborhood)

Installed ;)

Any difference?

Morfiy 04-22-2014 05:27 AM

it is, you can hear from the clip how rpms are jumping right now on 8000,
response is better, no speed limit, smoother gears etc.
Unfortunately I have no chance to dyne run (

Do you have amuse exhaust, (I like the sound of your car) what other mods do you have?

HAHA, NVM. I see you have the build list on your link in your sig.

So much fail... that video...:shakes head:

Not to mention 8000 rpm is a great way to grenade your oil pump. You should really take that heap off and get uprev to Etune you. Especially if you're not running the same octane as they do in Japan.

I believe same effective octane, just RON rather than AKI (i.e., 96 RON = ~91 AKI), although probably with fewer impurities.

The rest I don't know about -- now that you can tune VVEL, I doubt the canned Impul tune is anything special relative to what can be achieved with Uprev or Ecutek.

Here, sure. In Russia? Who knows. They could be using vodka.

No, we using sh.it of bears to drive our cars
UpRev? It's so popular, I choose another way, I don't want to squeeze my engine.

:rofl2:

Be very careful with the raised redline. You're playing with fire.

Ah, didn't notice that -- thought OP was in Japan.

Well, lets see;)
I wonder how do you know that if no one has installed JDM ECU before me?

Chuck33079 04-22-2014 11:33 AM

Because the raised redline isn't unique to that ecu. More than one person here has blown up a motor because they were running a raised redline. The brand of ecu has no bearing on the fact that the oil pump internals self destruct at high rpm.

I see. Thanks for advice, however I'm sure that IMPUL has gone through that, and they wouldn't release those brains without being thoroughly tested.

Ok. Good luck with that. Unless they swapped out the oil pump for something more robust, they've done nothing to prevent the issue. And you give aftermarket parts manufacturers and tuners way too much credit. Just because it's JDM doesn't mean it's perfect.

If I were you I wouldn't spend a whole lot of time in that part of the tach.

Thanks.
Gonna find how to improve oil pump internals. Any thoughts? ;)

There's a Nismo oil pump with billet internals, or just go with a dry sump. Either one is probably overkill for a NA setup since you're past peak power at 8k anyway.
