Issue with new 370z

Ok i made a post in a thread but no one has replied, i really would like some input on this. Other people have had this problem but i still couldnt figure what is causing this issue. Ok i got the car last week, installed G3 intakes this week, easy install, no issues. Today i was coming home from work and stuck in traffic for 40mins, today was sunny with 32*C (89*F) temps. Was watching my oil temp gauge and it reached 110*C (230*F). Went to take off at a red light and i could feel the car trying to stall so gave it more gas...once it got to 3000rpm it jerked real bad so i backed off the gas, tried again..same thing. Shifted into 2nd, it was fine until i hit 3000rpm...shifted into 4th, same thing. I had to drive in 5th gear to drive 50-60kmh. Car would not let me go above 3000rpm...no engine light on, i tried with VDC on and off...same thing. Came home, waited for traffic to die down and went to the mall. All was fine then coming home, same thing happend, only difference was the temps were lower...outside temp was 27*C and my oil was at 90*C and it was now raining.

Does anyone know what is causing this issue?

Wait was it raining the entire time after you installed the intakes? I didnt read TOO much into this just browsed quickly.. Do you have a bypass valve?

Snakes709 09-03-2009 11:21 PM

no it wasnt....when i installed the intakes 2 days ago it was sunny. Car ran perfect since then, today it was sunny when it start jerking around. Then when it did it again tonight it was raining. What do u mean by bypass valve...didnt know N/A cars have them

blue660r01 09-03-2009 11:27 PM

lol you're thinkin blowoff. A bypass valve connects to CAI's to prevent sucking up water and hitting hydrolock.

This foam looking piece is what I am talking about

no i dont have that but i dont think thats the problem. It was sunny and dry roads when it first happend today. Could the intake cause the AFR to mess up in the ECU? I never had a intake cause problems like this before if it is the problem...another guy had this same issue but never found out what it was...his issue went away.

Maybe you screwed up the MAF sensor... Not too sure on this one.

Snakes709 09-03-2009 11:39 PM

thought about that too...took them out, they looked cleaned/un-damaged...i cleaned them off just incase and unpluged the battery...will take the car for a test drive tomorrow...if problem is there again ill bring it to the dealership.

Loose MAF sensor plug connection, maybe? Don't really know if that's possible with the male/female connectors but if it is that could definitely throw the ECU for a loop.

Did you check the coil pack? Maybe your sparkplugs arent getting enough voltage causing your engine to cutoff.

boy dont i feel like a retard....found the problem....one of the bolts came loose on the connectors and the upper pipe was disconnected from the lower pipe....put it back together, checked all the bolts/screws to make sure they r tight..went for a test drive, its working good. Thanks for the help guys...lol i feel like a tool right now

It happens to us all, sooner or later. Just wait until a plenum spacer comes out. And you hear of others with your same prob with the CAI. A vacumn leak is usually the #1 culprit to a bucking Z.

curtis!

Snakes709 09-04-2009 10:05 AM

JungleB 09-04-2009 10:23 AM

Did you find out before or after taking it back to the dealership? Hopefully you're the only person who had to know!

Have fun at the track, hopefully you have an oil cooler installed before heading out there.

I won a day at the track thru a raffle and once my oil cooler is installed I will be heading out.

Its drag racing not autox so i should be fine, not sure if im going anymore...its raining right now...track opens at 6:00pm tonight for street legals but weather is calling for the showers to stop at 4:00pm with 19*C temps so it might dry up in time....iiunno.

Yeah, when I did mine - I probably OVER tightened my clamps. I don't want no dirty air getting in my engine!

Snakes709 09-04-2009 04:18 PM

is it possible to over tighten the bolts/screws so tight that it will damage/bend the pipes?
