Help.... Car won't start
So I have had my brand new baby in the shop getting HALOs added to the headlights. A 3 hour project has now turned into THREE DAYS.
took them 2 days to do the halos because the glue didn't hold the first time. after they got that fixed, they went to crank the car.... and it won't start???? everything gets power, and when it says "on" the fans run and everything.... but the engine will not even start to turn over to crank..... I am thinking they grounded something out and it blew a relay or fuse somewhere???? anyone have any suggestions. This is the same shop that installed a viper security system, remote start, gps tracking, and a custom system in my car.... They should know what they are doing.... :( |
They should definitely know the problem too, tell them to try to take the Viper out?
Maybe they blew the ECU |

and they hooked it up to the code reader and the computer seems to be working.... but its not throwing any codes |
There are two relays, "Starter Relay" and "Starter Control Relay", located in the IPDM that control the starter. Download the FSM and show the techs the STR section.
Edit: If you have a manual, check the clutch pedal switch - they have been known to fail or get dirty contacts. |

come to find out......
the dumba$$e$ drilled a hole through my firewall and into one of the main wiring harnesses... so my harness has a **** ton of wires that's been shorted.... what suggestions do you guys have so I don't lose my warranty? |
Make them fix anything they screwed up and then make sure you have something in writing that explains and admits their fvck up. Try to get them to warranty whatever you can in writing. I don't know how much success you'll have here. If you have a good dealer, you might consider talking to someone there about the implications. Maybe you can have the dealer fix it and get the idiot shop to pay for it. Though, I don't think that is a reasonable option until the shop has a chance to fix their mistake. |
Make them buy you a new harness. It's their mistake, they need to pay for a new harness and install it.

Wow  they better fix that ****

As to warranty on the parts or the car... you'll have a new part from Nissan installed, so I wouldn't sweat it. Nissan could conceivably void your warranty anyway on electrical components if they traced it back to an alleged malfunction in one of the aftermarket items you've installed (e.g., remote start). |
Do not let them fix your old harness. Make them get a new one
|
It will depend on which harness they drilled through. If it is the main body harness, this would basically mean gutting the car (seats, carpet, console, many interior trim parts, possible the CPM). I would have to consider if any of the secondary damage caused by the repair would be worse than just repairing the damaged wires.
