Question on lack of throttle response and RPMs
 

Hey guys I am pretty new to my Z, 2013 Base Auto with the Sport Package. How come when I'm in park and give her a little gas 1.The response really isn't there, it has a little delay. 2. It takes forever for those RPMS to get back down, they just wanna hang for a while and then very slowly fall. Only 2500 miles on her

First off, welcome! You'll find some great resources and very helpful people around here. In regards to your question, the slight delay is probably due to the natural laggy nature of an automatic transmission with a torque converter. It should get a little better as you break her in a bit more. Now that I think about it (I have a manual), I do recall a slight delay back when I first got it. Maybe I just got used to it *shrug*

The reason the revs hang for a while is because of the flywheel, which is designed to preserve inertia from the drivetrain to make it easier for drivers to transition from gear to gear without any jerky motions; this can also contribute to the delay when revving up. Because of the additional mass (which is easier to keep in motion once in motion), it will take more work for the flywheel to move from a standstill.

A lighter flywheel would fix that, but don't get into that stuff until you look around and see what others do to their Zs and then decide what path you want to take.

You need a time for problem 1 Ams you can help problem 2 with a light weight/under driven pulley

The lag you are noticing is most likely related to the throttle maps -- OEM tune has notoriously laggy throttle response. A sprint booster or uprev tune can fix.

Thanks for all the help guys! I've been researching different options for tuning all day. Now what do you guys find is the best bang for your buck tuning wise?

Uprev or ecutek. Pick whichever your local tuner feels more comfortable with.

After having my car tuned (after full bolt ons) I can honestly say the difference in the transmission side of the house is night and day. I have a 7AT as well, and the shifts are crisp and Quick. Power is there ready to be delivered thanks to lightweight crank pulleys. The motor revs much faster and goes through gears a lot quicker getting up to crusing speed and maintaining. My gas mileage is at 23.2 Lifetime for the car right now. (Almost 4 years soon :( )

Dang dude....after full bolt ons im getting 13.8 mpg around town :/

i think you are just flooring it a bit too much lol

Also a lot of cars from late 2000s have rev hang built in for emissions purposes.
