Also I plan on doing it on a 350Z Diff manual base model to my 370z. I plan on doing the 4.08 gears and just for the benifit of the doubt 4.08 gears are shorter or longer???? Since I plan on adding a big punch to this combo.

Would be cool if an individual with such knowledge could chime in please??? Need to know before I go ahead and pull the trigger, Thanks

4.08 gears are shorter. The higher the number (which is really a ratio, 4.08:1 in this case), the faster the crankshaft turns per every tire/wheel rotation. LSDs in general allow for the car to put power down to the ground on one side if the other has no traction by locking selectively.

Let me explain I know Mechanical differentials can be a bit confusing I'll try my best to explain.

Open Differentials (Non LSD) work by transfering power to the tire with the least resistance. (Ex: park with half your car on dirt and half on asphalt, do a burnout and the tire sitting on the dirt will spin, if you turn 180* around and have the opposite tire touching the dirt and try again you'll notice the tire that is touching the dirt will always be the one to spin)

a Quaife differential works the opposite. it delivers power evenly or to whatever tire has the most traction. so say you are drag racing it splits the power evenly amongst both tires until one starts to slip then it starts to deliver more power to the tire with traction. (Ie you park half your car on dirt and half on asphalt, it'll burn out with the tire on the asphalt, then if you turn around 180* and do it again it'll still burn out with the tire touching the asphalt)

to answer your Question, for Final drives, the bigger the number the shorter the gearing. so 3.692 is longer final drive than 4.083

That was very informative guys I really APPRECIATE it one last question, I purchased a Dynotune Nitrous Kit so that means going with 4.08 gears, quaife and a 350Z diff would be a horrible idea with my kit?? Of course ill upgrade tires but I want to know if I can do this combo so rather than investing on the gears ill just install my nitrous kit on my 7At....

you're way better off with the gears and diff. if you had to pick.

Damn :/ not what I wanted to hear seeing as if that's the case I will have to sell the kit and I bearly have about a month from purchasing it from a member from here.

Power is useless if you can't put it down to the ground.

how big of a Nitrous shot is it? 25-50-75-100-150?

Still debating between 75 or 100 shot, leaning nore towards 100.

personally if it where me I would install, the 3.69's but i would also do a valve body upgrade on the transmission before installing a 100shot on it (personally i wouldn't do nitrous all together but that's just me haha). with the gearing i probably wouldn't use the Nitrous in the lower gears of the transmission, but it will feel awesome on the later gears when you switch it on.

My plan was for my TPS/RPM window switch to activate on 3rd and 4rth and if this is the case then a 75 shot with a tranny cooler should suffice or so I believe...of course all this would be done with an uprev tune not just slap it on and call it a day. Decisions decisions...I've been told by you and another forum member that the gears itself brings out the monster in our vehicle (NA of course) but I just thought for a second with gears stacked with some nitrous could be epic but like most of you say its not a great idea...

it would lay down some epic black lines on the asphalt in 2nd gear haha I can agree with you on that, but i would def recommend a Valve body upgrade.

Ok then ill go ahead and do 3.69s and 75 shot...ill do a build thread later so I won't hi jack the OPs thread but I can't find a 370 diff so ill just use a 350 diff manual base model with a quaife man I'm so pumped for this thanks for the help juan
