Many people say it lacks the engaging feeling the 350z had and that the shifts don't feel solid.

99% sure it's the same transmission as HR 350z plus the s-mode sensor.

The 370z transmission has a very unique feel to it. Coming from a stage 1 clutch kit for my supercharged 330, the clutch is way too soft for my liking. Just my three cents.

its better than the POS tranny i had in my manual IS300.......

Gullible.

Compared to other cars it is difficult for me to shift quickly, also the clutch feel sucks. But it still feels like a manual transmission...

Go for a drive in my other car with no synchros and you'll be in love with the Z.

put a light weight twin disk clutch/flywheel combo in there and it will let you shift LIGHTNING fast.

The number and material of some of the synchro cones is different per the two manuals and part numbers, not sure of what else is changed

As a side note yes definitely less sold feel than an evo's remote shifter

If you drive any 6mt then drive a Z you WILL know then.

Shifting in anger from first to second sucks beyond belief. The thing I dislike the most about the car! Clutch feel is too light and ambiguous too!

zefaulter 10-14-2013 05:36 PM

It's definitely not like a Honda...lol all seriousness, First to second is my least favorite. Lightweight flywheel is on my to-do list

Z-Girl 12 10-14-2013 06:14 PM

I'm in love with mine.

I know what OP means, it IS a bit... different, ( Not to mention a bit fragile...I blew mine up on the track) The second one I put in feels a little "unsolid" too. I have a waay modded clutch pedal, and JWT clutch and flywheel, so the CLUTCH itself feels good, but the gearbox is kinda weird. there is an odd little bump or click going into almost every gear. I'm not complaining really, I'm just saying I notice it.

My theory is its an unusual synchro-mesh design. I'm not really qualified to make a judgement about weather its good or bad. (But after blowing my 5th gear synchro last month, I am a bit easier on it now than I would be a more standard feeling box)
