I don't even know why they didn't put on an unlock button for moving the shifter from D to N.

Lol, I don't know why you're worrying, it happens to people all the time, don't worry

Only time it would cause a problem is if you were flooring it when you shifted to back to drive but off gas, no problem.

or if you accidently went into neutral and just sat there flooring it off the limiter for a good long while, these cars also have a really soft limiter so it would have to be A WHILE

I've done it a few times... I'll be driving a long in "M" mode for a bit, then I'll switch to D to cruise. Come up to a stop, forgetting I'm no longer in D mode, and go to upshift... yeeeeaaaahhhh.... :wtf2:

Doesn't help when you have headers...

I've done that more than once. I'm not used to having paddles. Did it the other day when my daughter was in the car. She got a big kick out of it.

This reminds me of a mistake I made with my '78 Trans Am. We were drag racing when I accidentally hit 1st gear (4-speed manual) when trying to shift to 3rd.

That was a mess, all the way around!

Your car will be fine.

same thing as pushing in the clutch on a manual. you're fine
