VLSD-LSD Upgrade
Hey everyone:tiphat:
So I am looking for some input on which route to go. I do have a sports package model if anyone is wondering . Driving habits if some of you know I take mine to the drag strip and closed roads for racing. I say closed roads I mean it, cop buddies and everything so we don't get in trouble. I have been thinking about this upgrade for a while but just not sure if it is right for me for my driving habits. I see a lot of track guys going this route but obviously I am not taking any turns on my track. Any and all input would be nice guys! |
The stock VLSD works fine for the street. I went with a Quaife since I do some track driving and I would get progressively more inside rear wheel spin throughout a session.

I went with a quaife LSD. IMO its great for the track and quiet for the street . You will not have to service the fluid like a clutch LSD. Switching to 4.08 gears is also a big plus as well.

But anyways, I also went with 4.08 gears and a Quaife. |

I did the Quaife and gears at the same time so I couldnt really tell you a before and after. I can tell you that both mods are huge. The new LSD really hooks up and I notice a big difference compared to the factory. Also, the gears are going to have you rev higher but I like the fact that whatever gear im in, its ready to go.
I wont track the car till September, but I can tell you that from what I have driven on the streets, its a big difference. I don't think you ll be disappointed |
There is a thread about after market LSD in this forum for our cars.

on another note since the 370 uses the breaks to assist the lsd by braking the slipping wheel this actually will bring the "lock" curve on the quaife up since the quaife is a torque multiplier and increasing the free wheels load with the breaks will actually cause the diff to send more power than it normally would to the non spinning wheel.

Mileage is achieved through the mods listed and ignition timing adjusted by a few degrees advance on base. |
