Uprev Tricks

1 Attachment(s)
So I went I decided to get a tune on my 40th tuesday since I lost some low end torque when i did a muffler delete and it was really bugging me. I decided to go see Rob at Zcar Garage as i have worked with him in the past on my 350 and he is great (and now has a FAB Stache goin on :tiphat:)! Below is a little video review of the Uprev tune tricks that Rob showed me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjXwEQ1ANYo

After the tune I noticed a much more crisp throttle response. I gained a little over 15HP and little more than 12 in torque. I have NO performance mods on the car other than removing the muffler as i don't want to throw away money before a turbo install. With getting the tune ahead of time I have worked out deal with Rob when he does my Turbo. Im very happy with the tune and Rob's customer service.

Hate to break it to you OP but it's not a secret code. All you're doing is switching maps. The valet mode is just a map with the rev limiter set to 2500 rpm in your case and a speed limiter of 25 mph. The anti-theft is just set to no fuel so the car can't start.

Sorry for crushing your hopes and dreams. :tiphat:

Yeah I'm aware that it's not a "secret code" and that all I'm doing is switching between maps. But if you're a random vallet worker or somebody else that is stealing the car and not aware of how to switch the maps wouldn't you consider it a "secret code"? Because until yesterday... I didn't know anything about this.

So flame on! But I'm gonna go eff with the vallet this weekend with my new secret code!

Braver man than I am letting a valet touch your car.

I hate being put in the position of having to pay for parking or a free valet sevice. With the valet tune, I would be more willing to let a valet touch my vehicle. Granted, it helps that the car is still mostly stock. The more work I put into it, the harder it becomes to let anyone touch it :icon17:

Cbtech 05-02-2013 10:08 AM

At Zcar Garage it was 650 with tune and dyno

NitrousZ34 05-02-2013 10:19 AM

Btw it's not a trick, it's magic. Get it right gosh :p

Cbtech 05-02-2013 06:08 PM

ooooohhh i didnt think of it that way!! im gonna tell the GF that its magic... she will believe me cause she is young!

I did the unthinkable and tried switching maps on the fly one day. Throttle stopped working, and I had to pull to the side and restart the engine.

Wabbyyy 05-02-2013 06:35 PM

You should mess around with the valet. Let him drive the car and put it in valet mode. Then when he gets out be like "What did you do!" Just mess with his mind.

God, if I had a tune I would run the valet tune as CEL comes on as well as the rev and speed limit and I'd beat them verbally, LOL.

....if you want another "secret code" to lock the car, you may add an hidden switch under the steering wheel on "Steering Wheel Lock system"

It's easy and cheap.

Lucky for us, some of our cars are nice enough to do it on their own. Even leaving the owner stranded! ;)

So i took the Z last night out for dinner to a resturant that has Valet service but is on the corner of a busy street. I put it in Valet mode and handed over the key fob. I listened for the "pop pop pop" of the exhaust when he was leaving but didnt hear anything. After finishing dinner I give a different kid my ticket and he goes running off.

Now mind you since this is a busy street they park it down around the corner in a garage.

My girlfriend and I are waiting and i suddenly here "VRRRM POP POP POP"...pause..."VRRM POP POP POP"...pause, coming from the alleyway. I ask the valet at the box if there is a problem and he says he'll look. A few mins later the first valet that took my ticket came around the corner and said "i think your car has an exhaust leak or something cause it wont drive." I give him a WTF look and say "wont drive??!" he takes me to the car, while its still running in the alley :shakes head:, I ask him what he did and he tells me "i didnt do anything i just drove it from the garage!" I tell the valet "dude really?!" and call for my girlfriend to get in the car. while he is opening the door for her i pop in the secret/magic code :tiphat: and start heading out of the alley pulling onto the street and taking off to beat the coming traffic. I could see the valet standing at the corner staring and talking to his buddy like wtf just happened! :roflpuke2: dude was sweating bullets it was awesome!

I tipped him $5 before he got the car so is to not stiff him over my messing with his mind

Mine are set in this order, so unless I do something weird, I'm safe and can switch to Map 2 if I feel like getting better MPG on the highway or back to Map 1 when I feel the need for speed.

1- Tuned Map
2 - Stock Map
3 - Valet Map
4 - Fuel Cutoff Map
5 - Not used (yet)

I would think Map 4 would be the best for fuel economy :tiphat:

Rob said with the new tune that I would get better fuel economy and to leave the old map off.

DIGItonium 05-06-2013 02:02 PM

I don't think I can get a "fuel economy" type map with an FI setup since boost settings are static, but I do want to get different throttle map setups. The stock one should be good for everything, then I also want one that will allow it to open sooner without the need for a SprintBooster, and also unlock the max throttle opening limit. Whatever it is, I can't stand the weird limiting feeling.

I drove my friend's old 200HP M3, and 3rd gear pulls very nice with instant response. It makes the car feel faster, but also makes it easier to rev match.
