Headers
I'm looking to go expensive for a set of headers. anyone have any suggestions that they know off/ performance wise
|
Onpoint/SGM headers ($2800)
but Fast intention/PPE/Tomei are all quality headers |
Have you not researched the Intake/Exhaust section? There are several threads for multiple options...
Fast Intentions/PPE are the top ones for Long Tubes Stillen is the one for Shorty headers, but for the cost/hp, might as well stay OEM. |

Motordyne has headers? That's news to me. PPE/FI have proven gains for just over $1100. Z1 is releasing their Momentum repdroduction shorty headers but no price yet and as long as those flow as well has the original Momentums, all is well. Most beautiful and one of the most expensive headers definitely goes to 5zigen. 5zigen - EXM-SP - Exhaust Manifold Special - Nengun Performance Gains aren't really know but it looks AWESOME!!! |
Get Stillen Stainless Steel headers.
|
|
Stillen headers are junk. Merge collector looks like a marginally better than stock. I would stick with Fast Intentions or PPE's. And if the Z1 headers are as good as the Momentum's, those are a good option as well.
|
Go with the 5zigen
|
I heard my friend was selling his Momentum for 700$ , if interessted let me know
No one really knows when ever Z1 will release their copy of the Momentum and as a bussiiness im pretty sure they wont be cheap !!!! when the company was up and running the price tag on them were around 2400$ |
Fast Intentions FTW!!!!
|
MCR headers or supersprint

That link has the most exspensive and rare manifolds I have seen on the market. |

For the money definately PPE's, equal length, stepped, with a tuned merge collector and ceramic coated. I had them and they scream!
|
And you can get them custom ordered using 304 SS
|
i think ill be looking around FI thanks guys. Could i ask who installed them for you and how diffcult is it
|
The only headers i see for FI are the long tube are they any good for the price
|
I have FI LTH's, and love them.
I installed the headers myself. Being an old ASE Cert Master Tech. The right takes about 2hrs tops to remove the old manifold and install the header. The left side is a major PITA. Figure 6+ hrs. This is for any header you install. You have to remove a heat shield from the stock manifold. This heat shield will make you look for a gun and start chewing on the end of it. Once it's off, things start to go easier. Clearance for your hands is TIGHT! After you are done. Your hands will look like they have been in a fight with a very pissed off putty cat and LOST! |

Those are insanely beautiful... however in the Z you wouldn't really be able to see them as much as I'd like.... =( |
Well thanks to youtube i was able to hear how the long tube headers sound and by far its such a good quality sound. I wouldnt mind to try it with one of my budies that is very good and knows exactly what he's doing but idk if i should put him threw this hard work lol. Is it something thats do able for first timers. Or Where would be my options to take it in at. I live near Chicago but im not looking to pay way over my head for an install. Talking about tight theres so much limited space putting my big *** hands down there will be like bobbing for an apple.

Have you put it on a Dyno What kinds of numbers are you running to the wheels (rwhp)

Something wrong here....:icon14: Are you looking to pay for proven performance or just buy expensive headers just to say you have expensive headers? Because in our engine bay you can't see the headers for crap... |
That's just what custom set of Burns Stainless or Coast Fabrication headers cost.I can't remember who built the first set. But now they are a little cheaper.
They are equal length, 3 stage stepped, long primaries. Not sure they would be ideal for a street car as they are spec'd for the engine build. |
Equal length, 3 step, lth...sounds a lot like PPE's headers. I'm guessing the materials and collectors are better though. I just looked on Burns Stainless's site and they have hourglass shapes at their ends which current headers for our cars do not.
|
From looking at the pictures of the PPE headers..I would say we have different diameters as well as longer primary length...merge collector is a lot different on ours.
Not sure what one side of ours weighs exactly but it's no much at all. |
no pics? What the specs on your headers?
|
I do not have pics of our headers.
We only have one set and they are installed. |
Since Im considering headers i was told not to go cheap and was looking for a good solution. I dont care about labor but around my area i just could find any trustworthy shops that know what there doing. If i do it myself and get far and screw up somewhere theres no turning back
