Problem help
I have a 09 370z 7AMT and the problem i have only occurs when im in sports mode going from 2 to 1 by it's self. When it drops to 1 by its self when i creep to a stop sign theres a odd click doesnt sound smooth. i dont have the problem in auto but everytime it doesnt go down to 1st smooth unless i do a hard break. Has anyone had this problem?

Thats pretty normal.
The transmission is not very smooth coming to a stop from 2nd to first in manual/sport mode |
Don't creep to a stop in your z. You have the sports pkg with the big brakes. While it doesn't hurt them, they operate much better under moderate to heavy braking. Now, to the question: I'm guessing if you're in sports mode, the car is gauging your speed as if it were having the brakes applied by a person wanting to be in sports mode, not creeping to stops. Check to see if the downshift changes out of sports mode, and waits until you're almost at a dead stop.

When i approach a stop sign and going to a rolling stop dropping into 1st from second around 1,000rpm) theres a click that i can hear i cant tell if its normal or bad.

7AT Sorry lol

It can't be the tranny because when you drive it shifts up smooth it's just when coming to those odd stops
|
Is this a big problem, can it really be the tranny

Try changing your trans fluid to start?

I thought the 7AT trans is mant. free and if i tried i couldnt locate where its at.

I assume, not having a AT Z, that it's just trying to do what many MT drivers do and force the car into 1st before coming to a complete stop. Do you know what mph it generally does this at? Edit: I wouldn't worry too much about the shift to your PTO gear at low speeds. It's no worse than upshifting and getting on it. You're just putting the force of the vehicle changing lateral direction onto your transmission. |

My car is the same.
Watch me blame it on shoddy quality and get a new tranny out of it |
I mean i would take it in and have them dig around and try and see what's wrong but more problems will probably occur if those clown dealer heads start touching things. It's goes threw the gears perfectly it just isn't smooth going to a stop. Plus once and a while when the car sits for days , I take it down the back roads and when it's around 3-4,000rpm my middle rpm gage moves up like a rev for a second or two. What could possibly going wrong. I need to have this takin care if before car is out of warranty

Sorry, back on point: I generally don't believe the Z was designed to hit 5mph or less for long rolls. Nissan does their AT well in other cars. This one just has a higher gear ratio for supporting harder acceleration. With moderate braking, you can stop the Z very smoothly. I just had to re-learn how to gauge how 10 other cars are going to stop to avoid being right up on one while they unnecessarily rub off their brake pads. This gives me a little more room to brake a little harder than gentle when stopping behind them. |
