MAF Intake from Z1...

Having trouble installing the passenger side MAF hose. Any tips? The black hose from manifold is not lining up....Thanks...

XwChriswX 04-01-2013 02:05 PM

Pictures to help explain what you're talking about? There are a lot of black hoses in the engine bay...

Pic is from drivers side showing the attatchment below MAF tube...

looks like the hoses are on backwards somehow the z1 emblem should show upwards

ezred 04-01-2013 08:13 PM

They are on the upside...need to see the Z emblem when looking at the engine bay...may need a custom fit for the side fit

XwChriswX 04-01-2013 08:20 PM

You shouldn't be removing the black plastic harmonics boxes I believe... Unless you have their PCV kit too...

So you essentially are just removing/replacing the Accordion section, nothing else.

Red_Z 04-01-2013 09:21 PM

i install mine without the silver thing on the passenger side

ezred 04-01-2013 09:26 PM

So is it ok to remove the silver thing from the silicone tubes? They could/would fit then right?

Thanks...

No? That's the connector between the two pipes.

Red_Z 04-01-2013 09:31 PM

That's the only way I can get everything fit together. No problem so far, but I only have about 500 miles with it

ezred 04-01-2013 09:38 PM

The silver connector and the original fittings are the same size, so they will not fit together...

How about a pic of the whole engine bay for a look?

ezred 04-01-2013 09:46 PM

?

XwChriswX 04-01-2013 09:49 PM

A picture of the whole engine bay...

I'll get one for ya tommorow will you be online? If I remove the silver thing from both sides , the original lines should fit...that way, just the accordian pieces will be removed....

Yes, take that silver thing off, it does not get installed. Nissan 370Z Forum - Pintsize725's Album: Pintsize's PW - Picture

Passenger side might need to have the stock airbox removed for proper fitment. At least, that's what I had to do. Also, a butter knife helps tight spots. Good luck!

ezred 04-01-2013 10:14 PM

I/ve had both air boxes loose...will the silver pieces come off the silicone easily?

Should. Nothing a little elbow grease can't solve otherwise.

ezred 04-01-2013 10:18 PM

Cool - Thanks...

That's how it is from the start. You don't remove anything from the maf tubes... :icon17:

Yes you do. The tubes ship with a silver round insert in the parts that connect closer to the engine. It has to be removed.

That part goes in the other tubes... I've had them, they worked just fine.

Nope. The ones I received were the same size as where "they should go." No way in hell those things stay in.

XwChriswX 04-01-2013 10:59 PM

I'm not sure what to tell you then, I've installed them on mine and 2 other cars with no problems. :ugh2:

You should remove the metal inserts. They are used if you go with the Z1 Silicone Side PCV Breather Hose set for Aftermarket Intakes as well I believe.

Here's a couple pics of my finished project...

Mandingo 04-02-2013 01:51 PM

Pintsize is right. Those metal adaptors aren't used unless you have Z1's pcv tubes as well
