leaking oil on transmission housing
I was detailing my car over the weekend and noticed some oil leaking from what appears to be the top of my transmission housing.
I replaced my transmission fluid about 20k ago. My clutch will slip on very hard engages(which i dont do anymore because of that reason), and there is a grinding between 1-2 and 2-3 during a cold start. Any ideas as to what might be wrong? |
6MT? Leaking CSC.

im curious as to how you can see anything on the top of the transmission housing when its installed? im guessing you have the vehicle in the air while you are looking...?

Maybe this photo will help....?

Your rear differential bushing is shot. That's the rear differential, the transmission is farther forward.

You can try your best to sweet talk them and see what they will do for you. I personally suggest looking at the whiteline replacement linked in this thread. |
son of a bitch! After this.... it might be time to get another car....
this happened in a total of the last 4 months. AC compressor ~ $1500 Power steering lock ~ $1400 Differential Bushing ~ $1300 I can tackle little fixes, but I'm not about to try and change the bushing on my own. FAK |
Thanks for your help guys!

You can still drive with a busted diff bushing... its not going to hurt anything... just might be a little more NVH in the cabin.

Btw, since there's a recall on the steering lock, you can get your money back |

The dealership told me that the gel in the bushing came out and not to replace it, which is very surprising but ill take good news anyday.
|
BS, its needs to be replaced. Its no longer effectively doing its job.

what a stupid dealership! the bushing is busted.....
http://www.the370z.com/members/fuct-...nissandoc2.jpg hope that helps. and too add, i hope its covered under warranty because they order an entire new subframe and have a ton of labor to do. |
yeah, after some thought, thats kinda what i was thinking. Im actually tired of dealing with a $1500 repair every other month. This car will be sold by the end of the month, possibly mid May. I need something more reliable and with less repair costs. It was a fun 2 years and the car is a blast to drive. Its time to move on...... im thinking a truck possibly a silverado crew cab so i can actually haul camping gear and my bike and betches.
btw.... carmax offered me $16,000 for my car. below are the details. -2009 370z -55k -great condition -small dent in front bumper from uninsured illegal (i live in Houston, they are EVERYWHERE) -custom audio (nav screen, custom false floor and sub, upgraded ID components) not that it will get me more $$$. I will probably sell those separate -I was in a bad accident a year ago but all cosmetic. They said the frame had been worked on. The rear quarter panels are welded to the frame and had to be replaced. How that constitutes as the frame being worked on I dont know but theres no negotiating with them. |
