Started some Z projects...

Did a little work on the ol’ Z this weekend… getting ready for FI… ;^P

Had a struggle with the Quaife earlier this week but got it finally going, shims will be here Tuesday and that can go back in.

Bought a SouthBend Stage 3 clutch, new lightweight steel flywheel and HD CSC from Zspeedperformance, that should be here next week… Gotta pull the tranny for that to happen.

Cleaned up all the nasty clutch dust, ready for the new ZSpeed HD CSC… that will be nice!

Bought an AEM failsafe dual boost – A/F guage, needed a spot for it, decided to put it on the drivers side A pillar down low similair to Galeforce’s custom one, a little bondo work and some texture paint, should look pretty good.

Also installed my new front Hotchkis sway bar, got to wait for my Quaife to get done before I install the rear.

Didn’t take pics of the Z1 motorsports stainless steel clutch line… didn’t have time!

The whole damn bottom of my car is gone! :icon17:

May I suggest a diff cooler? Or at least the Nismo finned diff cover?

I might have missed this in another post/thread, but what kit are you going with? Doing it right the first time that's for sure. Good luck with the project from here, looks stellar so far.

Going with Sasha's twin scroll kit

Anybody know which model HKS wiring harness works with the HKS turbo timer for our cars?

I did mine on jack stands in the garage. The top ones are a pain, but not impossible. I used a couple long extensions and a universal joint. It's doable!

Hey Fuct, it is not too bad, get 3 or so long 1/2" extensions, a universal and a good 6 point socket with a 24" breaker bar and they come right out, it helps a ton with the car up that high except when you add a bunch of blocks on the floor jack to lower the tranny down, once you get it down as far as the jack goes its still too tall to roll out from underneath the car, so you have to take it off the jack under the car on some cardboard or something and slide it out from there, all in all not bad at all. My kids 2.2L S-10 was harder to unbolt than this thing.

It is a pleasure working on such a clean car and motor though... makes it fun!

Here is the Z1 stainless clutch line.

RHD, since you removed the transmission, could you figured why the clutch and fly wheel are so noisy? I'm tempted to pull my transmission out, just to investigate and possibly fix or cure that noise issue.

Are you saying yours is noisy? Mine was just fine, shifts perfect, no noises. I am upgrading my clutch, flywheel and CSC to handle more horsepower.

If you are under warranty I would take it to the dealer if you have excessive clutch/flywheel noise.

If you have an aftermarket aluminum flywheel I have read they will chatter.

MR.nismo 03-10-2013 11:56 AM

The noise/rattle has been there since a new vehicle and I'm the only owner. I have read previously about the rattle on the clutch on 370 Z forums and magazines/tv's reviews, so it is a normal thing to it. I was wondering if there is a cure for it. Anyway, I think a clutch replacement is in the near future, so near I can see it coming. Thank you very much for your input.
