Sounds like they either cant figure it out, or just dont want to bother pulling the trans.

Many auto parts stores will test your battery under load, often for free.

I'd tell them to test it with a new battery in it and then go from there. Now on my Pontiac solstice, I had these exact issues. I took it to 3 different shops and no one could figure it out. Then one day, it just started up fine and had no issues. I'll bet it WAS the fuel pump. When I tried to start it, it sounded like an old juloppy trying to turn over. Chug Chug Chug Chug. No one ever figured it out. Amazing and they too told me to install a new battery; which I did, but we have no way of knowing if that was it......cause I sold it and bought the Z.

Well, I'm just going to swap the battery... And fortunately because I'm a bastard... And because I drive around with a GoPro 24/7 now... I have ANOTHER video of my car not starting that I didn't show them...

Sooooooo... I'm going to call corporate tomorrow, see what they say, then after I get my new battery, miraculously, my car won't start again! YAY!!!
Goddamn dealershit probably didn't fix ANY of the problems on my car... It sucks because the guy has been really good to me... But I guess they just got lazy...

DE im not sure if i mentioned but the day my car wouldnt start (friday afternoon) i ran and bought a new battery. installed it and the car fired up! ran great until saturday afternoon when it wouldnt start and eventually had to be towed to the dealership.

i have no idea in hell why the new battery made the fuel pump work so well for a day then crap out.......

iceman21_23 02-28-2013 12:53 PM

... Are you on the OEM battery?

And did you have the 3 long crank attempts like mine (2nd video shows all of the startups)

iceman21_23 02-28-2013 10:52 PM

no every crank is like that and also my needle doesn't sweep.

Check your spark plugs? It does sound like it's not firing on all cylinders at times. If a plug has gone bad this would explain the rich fuel smell.

Wellllllll... There have been reports of bad coil packs and bad connections to the coil packs and such, and I WOULD check them, but for me at this stage of my car's life, the bítch is under warranty, dealer should be taking care of it... I just think they've been lazy. I'm going to pick it up tomorrow. And I think if it ever starts up again on 4 cylinders, I'm just going to drive it like that until it breaks.

iceman21_23 03-01-2013 05:14 PM

okay mine was simply the battery :/ lol
