Did my car go into limp mode?

Hey guys,

Here's the scenario. I'll drive on an on ramp in second gear, i'll slow down during the apex, but leave it in gear (let's say i'm at about 3500rpm's going into the turn) after the turn, i'll hit the gas on the straight away and the car will go into limp mode? It'll shut off and usually won't turn on for about 30 min or so. Recently it happened, but this time the car didn't turn back on. I figured the battery must be dead from failed attempts to start the car, so i tried to jump start it. Didn't work.(yes i had gas) Now the car is at nissan. They're still unsure of what the problem is. Any ideas, guys? It's an 09, MT, 52k, engine was replaced by nissan at 44k miles due to a thrown rod. I hope I explained what's going on well enough to understand. If not, lemme know. Thanks guys.

That's not limp mode. Limp mode doesn't kill the engine, just kicks into putt-putt mode.
I have no idea why it would die and then have to wait so long to restart. That might indicate that temperature is involved.
You should be throwing a DTC. Get a scanner and see what codes show up.
Does it bog down (no power) or does it accelerate and then die?
How does the car react under other conditions?

How much gas did you hae in the tank? Might of had fuel starve.

Right hand turn, 1/2 tank of gas, come out of the turn, and nothing. Happen to me a couple of times. Fuel starve.

Fuel starvation

I'm a little embarrassed. Technician at nissan put some gas in the car, and it started right up. Thanks for all the replies! I'm not too sure what fuel starve is. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's just a lack of fuel. I had about 23 miles til' empty. Is that low enough to cause "fuel starve"?

Thats just an estimate and NOT meant to actually gauge how much is left.

Try to just fill it at or before the Low Fuel WARNING alert flashes.

Ive gone on dozens of "clover leaf" style onramps and never had that issue. Very interesting...

When going around corners and/or accelerating the fuel moves to the sides of the tank. If the level is low enough this can create a cavity at the fuel pump inlet and you lose flow. How much is "low enough" depends on the design of the tank. As others have mentioned, low enough is rather high in a 370Z. Or maybe it's just because they tend to get driven harder than a lot of cars.
