hrm..but isnt that what the service manual says to use for the rear? :ugh2:

Yeah, I know. Always used the diff in previous cars too. It sure would be F-ed up if it wasn't up to it. Probably best to minimize time pushing on it.

no i never lifted it from the rear dif.

i read somewhere not to due that since its partly aluminum........

after thinking about it i do remember hitting some massive bumps/uneven pavement with heavy sh1t in my hatch. the added weight and impact might have broke em.... still not sure.

Was under the car this last weekend changing the diff oil and looking at this bushing. Is there any chance you lifted the car using the differential housing? Seems like the weight of the entire care would go straight to this bushing if you did.

:ugh2: I just purchased the fluids and will be doing this soon. I'll go to my friend's place and use his ramps, and I am interested to take a look at this for myself. I have jacked up my car a few times (~3) using the rear differential because the service manual says that is an acceptable jack point. I always immediately put the car on jack stands, of course.

I am glad to hear this. Anyone still think there could be a correlation?

I posted an image from the service manual..... the driveline section. page 67 of 90

Not sure where this image came from, but the rear differential is clearly labeled as the Garage Jack Point (rear)....

we do.

ive always thought it was safe to do but i cant afford to replace the rear subframe if it fugs up the bushing again. hopefully a reliable fix for the bushing is coming out soon.
