You're changing the gears in the wrong direction if you're going turbo down the line. You would end up making first and second gear completely useless.

yeah the factory manual rear gear would be about as high as you would want to go for a turbo car. the more low and midrange power you have the smaller gears are are better. i'm going to have way too much low end so i want the automatic ratio. if you are going single turbo then a slightly taller gear doesn't hurt for getting off the line.

Sorry for bringing this thread up from a while ago but just a few questions.

Will this mess anything up in the long run, does it put more stress on the car?

Can you keep everything else stock and simply just do a 4.08 gear swap, rear axle will be completely fine no matter how many times you floor it from a dig?

and what is this "micro polished" how much is it and what exactly does it do. Probably obvious, but just making sure.

Thanks

Don't own a Z, or any car as of now, but planning on getting one in March and I want this to be one of my first mods. Thanks again.

Thanks for the review.

Seb's putting in a Quaife LSD, 4.08 gears, whiteline diff bushings and the same fluid you've got, this monday :)

EDIT: I've got a manual gearbox though, but I like shifting :)

It all depends on how cheap you can find a manual 370Z differential. I got lucky and got one for a little under 400 bucks. As far as the rest of the stuff goes, here is the approximate amount they cost.

Gears (4.08s)= $535
Install kit = $300
Fluid = $30
370Z manual diff = best price you can find one for
Labor/install = $500, depends on your local shop.

So you are looking somewhere around 1400 +tax and whatever price you can find a used/new manual 370Z diff.

You welcome, you will love them man. Make sure you got some good tires on there because you will definitely be breaking those tires loose much easier.

Yeah that's next on the list.

I wanna do the tires and the SpecialtyZ clutch and flywheel combo install.

After that I'll prolly do front and rear camber arms and toe bolts and all that stuff just to finish it off. But then again, there's always room for seats and a proper harness bar and rear spoiler lol... stuff keeps on adding up!!

I am wanting to do this Mod with the stock 6MT 3.69 gears.

My 7AT is a non-sport and need to know what parts are needed if I use a sport version pumpkin with stock LSD.

If anyone can chime in :tiphat:

I did that for critical, if you get a 370z manual sport pumpkinyou can just bolt it to your car no extra parts required. Just make sure you get the pumpkin completely assembled with shafts in it. And don't get one from a g37 sedan different flange on those.

Any chance of getting a Part # to try and locate a 370Z manual sport pumpkin?

I would like to find one online :tiphat:
