Hey Marco, :hello:

Sorry to hear about whats happening but sounds like it could it be in limp mode?

Hows the oil temp?

Have you tried to reset the ecu?

Chuck33079 10-24-2012 06:41 PM

Is it throwing a code? Sounds like limp mode. If it's throwing a code drive up to Autozone and have them pull it so you can know what the problem is.

Another thought- if it's throwing a check engine light, don't reset the ecu and clear it out before you get it scanned to see what's going on.

Well no check engine light so im not sure if it would show a code
I was driving a good 10 minutes and was not really pushing the car i did check all gauges oil was about 180, battery at 14.3 engine temp/coolant was a dot below half

From reading other threads if your not throwing any cels and oil temp is normal? simply reset the ignition or a ecu reset will clear it. Seems like its bug and just restarting the car will fix it

I'm not sure if the Z's ecu works the same way, but on other cars I've been able to see pending codes on an OBD scanner even if the check engine light isn't on. Might be worth a shot before you spend eternity troubleshooting. Or, clear the ecu and assume it's a random one-off glitch unless it comes back. If it's a real issue, it'll happen again.

Will do thanks will keep u guys posted

Just an update got back in the car after an hour
Been driving for 20 minutes so far it hasnt happend again...
Hhhmmm

MyKindaGuise 10-24-2012 07:23 PM

Had this happen to me...eventually led to an ecu failure. Good luck bro.

tru_Asiatik 10-24-2012 07:25 PM

Btw just in case u missed it this is the second time it had happend (first time was about a month ago) and now on both occasions it has fixed itself after turning the car off and letting it sit.... The way it was bogging did seem like it went to limp mode... But my main suspect right now is it has something to do with the traction control.... Tsk... I need a new car lol

Find out if you have a code that is not throwing the CEL. I had this and it was a small adjustment in my tune but your description is almost exactly what was happening to me. It was definitely limp mode. A restart of the car, or several restarts, usually fixed it.

My problem tracked backed to a MAP issue in the tune. Did you wash or detail the engine recently? The paste below was the troubleshooting path I followed:

It is probably worth a shot to the check the MAP sensors:
1) Harness or connectors
2) Mass air flow sensor
3) MAP sensor
4) Evap pressure sensor
5) Intake air leaks
6) Intake air temperature sensor

Good luck. Limp mode sucks.

Yep really. Freaking sucked. The GTR tech who worked on my car said he saw it happen to a non tampered with Z as well. My issue was slightly different due to the fault of the technician who wire my o2 sensors up. Anyways PO136 I think was the pending code. And to whoever mentioned our ECU's pending codes yes that is correct. I would get a scanner hooked up asap to make sure it isnt throwing non CEL triggering codes.
