ITB's on a VQ?

anyone seen this done on the 370's yet? i've seen a couple posts about tommy kaira developing a set for 350's. i know price would be high, but man would those be sexy lookin or what!

couple pics i found of itb's on the 3.5:

I know these would be VERY pricey. BUT if u can get a modest 25whp bump AND IF the jun cam shafts give a 25-30whp bump, THEN we are looking at being able to possibly hit 360+whp na

... just a thought

SS_Firehawk 09-25-2012 09:48 AM

I saw those on GTM's racing VQ motors but I couldn't tell you if it were a DE, HR or VHR. We just have to stay patient with niceties like that.

DIGItonium 09-25-2012 10:13 AM

It doesn't do us any good if the traditional butterflies aren't used primarily for throttle control.

edub370 09-25-2012 10:40 AM

why does the aftermarket not make badass na stuff for our cars

DIGItonium 09-25-2012 11:21 AM

Probably because the general market is still a bit of a niche and this economy.

Now a variable length intake manifold would be the shh!t. Imagine an ecu controlled manifold where runner length could continually adjust to increase performance. I'd sell my unborn child for that

If I wanted a penis in my engine bay I think I'd just lay in it.

ITB's would actually cover most of that issue, so long as the controller could manage to open all the throttle bodies at the appropriate times and in perfect synchrony..

That does nothing for runner length

Multiple butterfly valves along the length of the ITB.

not to worried about a variable length intake... itb's = sexy for the eyes and ears.

Kingbaby 09-25-2012 04:05 PM

It's been done!

Top Secret did it first I believe...kit was offered at like 6k alone.

SG also looked into it...

I too wish we would skip the bs bodykits/flashy rims/wings/rice in general...

get back to badassery?

My race car (not Z34) has fly-by-wire throttle with ITB's .... we set the ITB linkages up so they all move together with a single pull pink and connect the single pull link to a cable that is tugged with a stepper motor controlled by the MoTec ECU and a throttle pedal out of a Holden Commodore SS (same platform as current model Camaro).

The is what the Nissan V8 Supercar engine has (Kelly Brothers MotorSport to become Nissan MotorSPort Ausatralia on 1st Jan 2013).

Why couldn't we basically "adapt" the vq35 ITBs onto the VQ37? I'm sure that's what would be done if we had a performance house that would actually do it. I'm also sure some race team out there would try this...

Shops that provide aftermarket parts are too busy constructing body kits and carbon fiber dash trim.

Me personally would rather dump 15k in to a killer n/a build than spend 10k on forced induction.

I'd rather actually make power

I don't think so. That was new for the 370z iirc.

A boat load of money. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ If you're willing to pay the price. It can be done.

Oh man, I've been searching for An ITB setup for awhile for our cars. The power gained compared to the $$$$ spent is usually not on par but it's sexy as hell!

I used to have an RSX Type S and when the ITB's came out. Lots made the jump but the thing that held me back was the fact that most of them were reporting that their were having issues constantly just to get the car running right whenever a change of weather happened. It was very sensitive for the K20 motor and it's what drove me to go Turbo back then because I didn't want to keep paying for tuning when things changed.

I'm really upset of the lack of aftermarket support for the 370z. I mean geez Civics, STIs and Evos have multiple huge companies constantly making things for their platforms even before the newer model comes out.

The 370 has been out since '09 and really we don't have much options at all when it comes to performance mods. I can care less about aesthetic mods but respect those who do them. When it comes to N/A, after basic full bolt-ons we basically have no where else to go.. Jun has a "mild" cam out. VVEL has not been cracked yet. So we are force to go SC or TT if we want more power.

So besides GTM, only other place for us to go is Stillen or Greddy. Unless one goes full custom which the average buyer won't know how to peice their own kit. It sucks.
