It's not a huge deal, just don't get in the habit of doing it. :p

:iagree:

And for gods sake don't ride the clutch

Dont worry everyone does it every once in a while.

Biggest difference between grinding and a smooth engagement for me is my seat position. Too close and I'm smashing the floor, too far and I'm on my tip toes. I know I got it right when I press in the clutch and the pedal is still on the ball of my foot as my knee locks and I'm just off the floor. May nor make sense to anyone, but it works well enough for me.

Scratching gears is more so embarrassing than damaging. It damages my ego more than the cogs.

no effect on the trans unless u do it 1290382 times. won't be the last time u do it, so dont sweat it

Oh no, now you need a new transmission. Better trade in the car now while it still works. :)

Nah, it's OK. You should try not to do it but like everyone else said, it happens once in a while and it's no big deal.

anthonyy 08-03-2012 11:09 AM

yeah no biggie. It's like a new cellphone - the first time you drop it is the worst :)

ddot196 08-03-2012 11:59 AM

Yea I do it occasionally when I'm being lazy sometimes in my eclipse. Its an old beater so I don't care too much but don't worry it will happen again lol. You'll be fine.

The way this transmission is built, it's a matter of time before it will start grinding on its own anyway.

here a question dose my car have a syncros and what is a syncros my cars is a base model

Hey man,

Syncros and Syncro-Rev are two entirely different things.

Syncro-Rev (Nissan product ) is an added feature to the 'sport' trim 370z, that has a sensor within the transmission case to sense how fast the tranny is spinning when the clutch has disengaged the engine from the drive train. The sensor sends the signal to the ECU to match those revolutions with electronic throttle response which in turn give you smoother downshifting and I heard it works on upshifting as well.

Syncros are peices of hardware that are in ALL manual transmission vehicles. They are what allows you to shift into the 'gates' of each gear. If you ever have a person who cant get their car into certain gears at the correct speeds, there is a good chance their syncos within the gear box are shot.

Go back and re-read the title of your thread.
