7AT slipping

So I think it's my fault I had the car on jack stand and started revving the engine to check for exhaust rattle *dumb* I was using my hands to push the brake and throttle. I go to put it in park and my hand slightly comes off the brake and it makes a grggrhgrhgrhg sound. Ever since then there is a high pitched whine when the car is cold, the tranny shifts rougher, at a higher rpm and more lag between 1 and 2 and 3. Could this be a coincidence? I thought there was some sort of parking pin to prevent the tranny from being damaged but the car had all tires in the air. I'm right @ 28K but I think the tranny is covered for 60k/5years.

I have UPREV, tp's and a cbe. I'll flash back to stock but should I put the stock cats back on? I know they can figure out how many times the ECU has been flashed but I don't know if that is enough to void the power-train warranty.

What revs did you slap it into park at?

harman.khinda 07-14-2012 08:07 AM

it was winding down - IIRC ~2.5k. i wasn't looking at the tach that just based on the sound.

I feel like 2.5k isn't high enough for it to permanently mess up the transmission if it just happens once. How much have you driven it since?

Yes and very dangerous. Naughty boy!

I've prob driven it about 300 miles since. I drive pretty hard to. it does act funny like going from reverse to drive and going into park if there is any momomentum. my friend recommended a tranny flush but I don't think that'll help. will the dealership most likely void my warranty cause of test pipes?

DarkJak 07-15-2012 10:53 AM

Really depends on the dealer, but the goto argument for them is that the test pipes and exhaust add extra power which the transmission was not designed to handle which could have caused it to fail. If you still have the stock cats and exhaust, I'd put those back on before taking the car to a dealership.

And the rebuttal would be "How much torque can the xmission handle? My mods haven't increased the torque enough to over torque the xmission."

^ is that true for the VQ37 with bolt-ons and the 7AT?

Does depend on the dealer. My car has the SC on it and the dealership still warrentys the tranny. IMO you wouldnt need to change out the exhaust and pipes.

harman.khinda 07-16-2012 11:23 PM

^ my family has bought a few cars through them too so I hope that helps.

Do you think a tranny flush would help at all? it's kinda pricey. Also will they be able to tell that the reason its failing is because I slapped it into park on accident?
