possible transmission issue?

Hey everyone, well as the thread titale states i may or may not be having some transmission issues, specifically with 2nd gear. the exact issue i'm getting is that every once in a great while lately i push the clutch pedal all the way in and when i go to shift into second i get a loud screetching sound when i try to shift down into second like it doesnt want to shift down into second and keep in mind this is when only going around 20mph. this has so far only happened twice within the last few months, first time i didnt think anything of it and thought maybe i hadnt clutched all the way in, but i know for sure this second time i had the clutch all the way in. I was able to to shift down into second after giving the car a few seconds and slowed down to about 15mph, but i noticed afterwards for a little bit it was rough to shift into 2nd until i stopped and let the car cool down for a few minutes and if anyone is wondering what the oil temps were at my gauge was reading 220 at the time this happened and was around the same temperature the first time it happened also. can anybody shed some light on this for me or should i take it to the dealer and have them check it out?

whats happening to you is definetly abnormal, i think there is a problem w/ your tranny ive been driving myne for 13 k miles and 220F temp all the time and i do live in the city (i shift alot), i never had that happening to me. the first thing poped in to my head is lack of lublicant, air in clutch or gearing problem. Take it to a dealer and/or record it on video becouse you need some proof when they get in to it, drive it 4 a wile and nothing happends.

Good LUCK pal.

My initial thought is ur 2nd gear syncros are damaged. A distant 2nd could be your clutch slave cylinder is failing (clutch pedal moved but clutch was still engaged) but that would affect other gears as well.

Take it in. Hopefully they can replicate (or at least document) the issue and provide you with a new trans under warranty.

thats one thought that entered my mind, but like you mentioned it would be happening in all gears if the slave cylinder was failing and it's not, it's only happening when shifting into 2nd. One other thing i should mention is that the 2 times this has happened it only does it when downshifting into 2nd , when upshifting into 2nd while accelerating i have never had it do this to me. I just wish i could know when it's going to do it so i could record it, but so far the issue has only reared it's head randomly and very rarely. The first time it did this was about 2 months ago and now again just yesterday, the one thing i have always noticed though is that 2nd has always been a little rough to downshift into ever since i got the car if that means anything to anyone.

I think if you're not having issues shifting into any other gears, then it's unlikely to be the CSC.

Edit: I agree with your assessment of 2nd gear being somewhat difficult to downshift into. It does require correct rev matching for a smooth shift, otherwise is difficult to engage.
