Let us know how it goes

Ummm... I never got any problem to filled over a dot. My oil still the same. I even have oil cooler n using Mobil 1 extended form. And I believe the oil is not the issue here but the engine. Our engine should not burn if we filled over the dot. And I confirm that.

This made me check mine since I just had it changed 500 miles ago to Moblie one. its MMs below the top dot. I will continue to check it

500? Oh **** !
I'm reaching 1000 and I ain't changing anything. I'm not until 3000 miles.

my dads 350 never stopped consuming, it must be pretty hungry lol. But with 191000 on the odometer and only a failed thermostat to complain about, I wouldn't worry too much. typical for a high performance engine to burn a little bit of oil.

Boy am I glad I read this forum..

Not happy with what I am told, but happy you guys are giving me the heads up...

I have a 2009 with 6000 Miles...Just bought it..I will keep an eye on the Oil..

Then down the road, I will add the oil cooler as the first Mod.

My 350 never ate Oil and my Z/28 does eat Oil.

So I will keep an eye on the 370Z..Thanks for the heads up.

Mine is eating about the same- one quart per thousand miles.

Regardless of the TSB, engine oil consumption falls within the 5yr/60k mile warranty. They will do a consumption test (seal the dipstick, mark the oil fill cap, drain plug and filter) and replace the short block if it fails.

I had to deal with the same thing on my '06 350. Good times.

I'll be taking my car in this month sometime to get the test started.

Hello..newbie here(Mike). I thought that the factory warranty was 3 years or 30K Miles ? Is there an additonal Factory Warranty ?

My three year runs out soon. I did Buy a 7 year extended warranty, bumper to bumper..

I just never heard of 5 years. But I am the newbie.

Thanks for the info...A lot I need to learn about my 2009 370Z. Thanks:tup:

Cell dont worry if they find your car is consuming too much oil during their test, then your engine should be replaced under warranty.

Yep- there are two warranty periods. The first is bumper to bumper, which lasts until 3 years or 36,000 miles, whatever comes first.

From there, you have a powertrain warranty, which lasts until 5 years or 60k miles.

Powertrain covers the engine and tranny, basically.

Based from the manual its normal to burn oil within the break-in period. At 800miles my oil dropped 1/4 from the upper dot level. One thing about this engine it does burn oil if you drive it hard. My guess most sports cars burn oil once pushed hard to the limit. Nothing to worry about if you don't track your Z.

Pretty sure this thread isn't about just burning oil during the break in period or when running the car hard.

Some of these engines can and do burn oil. I'm not sure if it's valve seals, bad rings, or what the deal is, but it does exist. A nice byproduct is all the disgusting soot that covers the tailpipes after a few hundred miles.

anyway, on my G after about 10-12K miles i could fill to the very top without burning oil. my Z is at 8300 miles and still burns oil if i fill to the top dot... not worried though.

Same here...
